April Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

Weather Lowdown

Spring is here in Puerto de Santiago, and you can feel the air start to get a bit warmer. Even though the average daily temperature stays the same as it was in March at 19°C, the range is a little higher, going from 23°C highs to 17°C lows.

This part of the Canary Islands is reasonably dry, so you can expect the rainfall to start dropping off from this month onwards. There will only be around 40mm over 6 days of rain here, so even if you are unlucky enough to get caught in a shower, you can be sure that it will not last long. The chances are however even lower in nearby Lanzarote's Costa Teguise, where the rainfall will only cover a day. Still, it can't be denied that the weather here is great!

April sees an average of 11 hours of sunshine a day, which means you do not need to check the weather forecast to know it is almost always warm! The average sea temperature rests around 19°C, which is still a comfortable temperature if you want to go for a swim.

There can be a few warmer days this month, but generally the climate remains at a steady sort of temperature. This means you can rely on the weather being more or less the same for the whole of your stay, which is great news for those who like to pack light. Just don't forget the swimming costume: it's a good time of year to enjoy the sea, while the temperatures are not too high and the beaches are not too crowded. You hardly run the risk of being cold, unless you are used to more tropical temperatures, and the long sunny days mean you have plenty of time to enjoy the great outdoors however you wish.

Where to Stay

The April sun will surely tempt you out by the pool at the Lagos de Cesar by Blue Sea, particularly if the window of your room overlooks this central feature. There are great facilities for kids to entertain themselves here, and families are accommodated for in the spacious rooms that are available.

If a bed and breakfast is more your style, then Casa Regina Tenerife will be perfect. The staff here are attentive to your every need, and a huge breakfast buffet is laid out for you every morning. The rooms are also well-appointed, making this a great choice for independent travellers who don't care for all-inclusive options.

Nearby Los Gigantes offers plenty more hotel options, such as the Apartamentos Poblado Marinero. The sea view is the main draw here, and you can even watch the ships bobbing on the waves in a small harbour while you sit by the pool.

Things to Do

It's a great time to try local cuisine, and heading to the same restaurants that the locals enjoy. As this is an island you will find that many local dishes centre on seafood, and of course they also use Spanish influences. Make sure that you eat local at least once during your stay so that you can understand how the residents live.

April is warm enough to go out and about, so why not try out the If Activ Tours & Trips? They mainly cater to Polish visitors, but will be able to speak English with you if you are looking for an adventurous day trip. They can take you anywhere so long as it is in the great outdoors!

You can also take a trip out to Siam Park, a waterpark which offers great attractions for resorts on the west side of Tenerife like this one. It is actually one of the biggest such parks in Europe, with more than 30 attractions all themed around a Thai design.

Restaurants and Nightlife

If you fancy a croissant and a glass of champagne or just coffee and a cake then Lu & Be is the perfect choice. This café and bakery offers beautiful food served up in a friendly setting, where you can sit and pass the time with friends as you relax.

The Taverna Suiza offers international food for a more traditional dinner service. You are welcome to either walk in or book a table in advance, and with sea views like this, you might find yourself lingering a little longer than you planned.

If you want a bit of excitement with your dinner, try Casa Pepe, where a Flamenco show is offered on a weekly basis as well as other forms of live entertainment. They serve plenty of seafood dishes, as well as international options such as an all-day breakfast.
