What's the Weather like in Playacar in April

Just a short 40-minute drive from Cancun, in the heart of the Quintana Roo region, lies Playacar, a small community to the south of Playa del Carmen. Once a small fishing town, the area is now filled with hotels and villas and has fantastic weather, perfect for a relaxing holiday in the sun.

Temperature

April's temperatures, like other areas on the Riviera Maya, are warm, averaging 26°C (about 79°F). The lows drop down to 23°C (about 73°F) and the highs start to get hot, reaching up to an average high of 29°C (around 85°F). With these temperatures, you'll want to get out your short-sleeved shirts and shorts from storage and break in your flip flops. During the evening hours, you might want a light jacket or sweater, although the lows still feel much warmer than a typical UK spring day.

Average Sunshine Hours

The sun shines for an average of 10 hours a day this month and there is a 21 percent chance of a sunny day, so pack those sunglasses, hat and sunscreen.

Rainfall

Xel-Ha

Another popular ecological park, Xel-Ha invites guests to take in the natural beauty of the forests, rivers and lagoons of the park. Visitors can swim and snorkel with thousands of fish or explore the park by bicycle or mini-train. Other activities include swimming in the Xel-Ha cave, cliff jumping, zip-lining and kite-flying. Kids will enjoy the special area just for them, with activities suited to different age levels.

Rancho Baaxal

To see the island from a different perspective, consider a horseback riding tour from Rancho Baaxal. Take the daytime tour or the wait for a full moon to experience nighttime riding on the Full Moon tour. All tours include a 1.5-hour tour through the jungle and on unspoiled beaches, as well as a tour guide and drinks and snacks. The Full Moon tour also includes a bonfire on the beach.

Playa Boardsports

Thanks to the calmer waters surrounding Playacar, you can enjoy stand-up paddle boarding, an increasingly popular watersport. Playa Boardsports offers one and two-hour lessons that teach the basics of SUP and also give you a chance to try out your new-found skills. If you already have experience, opt for one of the tours, or simply rent equipment by the hour and go out on your own.
