August Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's the Weather like in Playacar in August

Playacar, a luxury resort located in Mexico, enjoys all the attractions and nightlife of the Playa del Carmen area, most of which is within walking distance. But, it prides itself on being a quieter and more luxurious setting, with many adult-only accommodations. The weather in August is hot to put it mildly, just like most of the Riviera Maya area. The average daily temperature goes up to 28°C (around 82°F).

The lows for this area drop to 25°C (about 77°F), still warm for the evening and overnight hours. The average high temperature rises to a hot 32°C (about 90°F), making for some steamy days when combined with the higher humidity. Bring along the summer clothes, including short-sleeve shirts and shorts, to stay cool. Also pack some high-SPF sunscreen to protect your skin from the blistering sun and opt for accommodation with air-conditioning included.

The sun shines around 10 hours a day during the month with an 8 percent chance of a sunny day. The chance of a windy day is only 3 percent, so those high temperatures and humidity won't be helped much by ocean breezes.

The summer rains continue, and will do so until the end of the rainy season in November. August typically sees around 150 mm of rainfall, falling across 13 days. The chance of rain on any given day is 24 percent and the chance of a cloudy day is 16 percent. Bring that umbrella or poncho and if you forget, visit a local shop to find one.

The ocean temperature rises even more this month, up one degree from July. The average sea temperature is 29°C (about 84°F), almost approaching feeling too warm if you want to cool off from the hot air. In between rain storms, take advantage of the warm water to swim, look for seashells or just relax on the sand.
