What's the weather like in Palma in June?
Temperature
The average temperature in Palma, the capital of the island of Majorca in Spain's Balearic Islands, in June is 21°C, the first time the average temperature is higher than 20°C since last September. Summer has now truly arrived in the Balearics!
During the day, the mercury climbs to a warm average high of 27°Cerfect beach weatherhile at night, it drops to an average low of 15°Cxcellent weather for a beachside stroll or a fun night out. Both these temperatures are the fourth highest in the entire year. Only the following three summer months of July, August and September are warmer. In the course of the month, both temperatures also increase significantly. The average high temperature rises from 25°C in the beginning of the month to 29°C at the end, while the average low climbs from 14°C to 17°C. In June, the average sea temperature also rises above 20°C and is now a comfortably refreshing 21°C.
Rainfall
June is one of the driest months of the year. In fact, it is the third driest, after July and August. The total amount of rainfall is only 20mm, which is spread out over no more than 5 rainy days. The probability that precipitation occurs decreases significantly in the course of the month. June 1 is the wettest day of the month with a 22% chance of rainfall; June 30 is the driest with only a 14% chance that rainfall occurs. There are four common types of Palma rainfall in June. Moderate rain is most likely to happen and is recorded on 39% of the days with rainfall; thunderstorms happen on 27% of those days; and light rain and drizzle occur on 19% and 15% of the rainy days respectively.
Sunshine Hours
June is also one of the sunniest months in the year. There are no less than 12 glorious hours of sunshine per day on average. Only July is sunnier and August has the same number of sunshine hours per day. There are two main reasons for this high number of sunshine hours.
The first one is the fact that June is the longest month of the year in terms of daylight. June 20 is the longest day of the year and has 14.57 daylight hours. June 1 has 14.46 hours of daylight and June 30 has 14.54 hours.
Cloud Cover
Reason number two is the clearing skies. The skies in June are the third clearest of the whole year. Again, only July and August do better. Cloud cover decreases greatly in the course of the month, from 34% in the beginning to 25% at the end. A typical day in June has clear or mostly clear skies 59% of the time, partly cloudy skies 21% of the time, and is overcast or mostly cloudy only 9% of the time.
