Surrounded by of some of Turkeyâs most popular beach resorts, Ovacik enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Located nearby the lively resort of Hisaronu and 4km above the favourable coastal town of Olu Deniz, the tranquil mountain resort of Ovacik is yet a great way to escape the busy crowds. Ovacik offers its visitors an excellent base for a vacation the refreshing mountain air and cool sea breezes take the edge off the peak summers heat. Only a 10min ride away, Ovacik has the benefits of away being a few degrees cooler than the beach resorts of Fethiye and Olu Deniz â" a great way to flee the sweltering temperatures.
Spring
An assured favourable time to visit Ovacik, the clement months of spring enjoys loads of sunny weather and high temperatures. April and May see the commencement of summer as high temperatures climb to a satisfying 25ºC, a little more pleasing than the coastal resorts located nearby. This is also an ideal period for visiting the attractions and many outdoor activities such as cycling and walking. The end of March sees rainfall levels starting to decrease averaging at 25mm by May.
Summer
By the time June arrives summer is well underway with temperatures climbing from 25ºC to 30ºC within a month. Even at such high altitude temperatures never fail to hit the low thirties. The cooling mountain breezes however always bring a soothing relief to the resort as day temperatures never feel as high as they actually and the nights are cooler and comfortable. Rainfall is at its minimum throughout the summer falling in only light, brisk showers. The sun blazes down for thirteen hours a day in August as sea temperatures manage to rocket to 28ºC.
Autumn
With September and October still seeing long hours of daily sunshine, temperatures during autumn are fairly similar to spring. September still sees high daytime climates of 30ºC whereas by mid November they have dropped back to 19ºC. Beneficially autumn is drier than spring, allowing a great vacation in October or November once the crowds have died and temperatures are still pleasing.
Winter
With average highs of 13 ºC and average lows of 5 ºC in January and February, winters in Ovacik are not your typical European winter. The period over winter in generally mild, however wet. The region receives approximately 1000mm of rainfall each yeah â" more than 450mm falling in December and January. There is yet still a great amount of sunshine during the winter months averaging at six hours during the coldest months.
