Finding plenty of good places to eat in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands isn't hard. There's a plethora of excellent eateries to try, encompassing a variety of different cuisines, influences, tastes and budgets. Buen provecho!

Spanish cuisine

Museo del Vino & Bar Pinxto Taverna is loved by locals and tourists alike for its tasty range of tapas. This popular, spacious restaurant includes a delicatessen and wine shop selling a variety of delicious cheeses, meats and local and international wines. The staff are efficient and friendly; you'll feel very relaxed and welcome here. Offering great food and great value for money, this restaurant is located opposite Calle Real (Leon y Castillo) between Charco de San Gines and the pedestrian shopping street, Arrecife.

La Lapa in El Golfo (a quaint, charming little town well worth a visit) specialises in excellent Spanish cuisine, delectable dishes including olive oil cooked octopus, fig marmalade and mojo sauce. The atmosphere is welcoming and laid-back, while the staff are helpful, friendly and chatty. Try the mixed fish grill a highlight on the menu and testament to how genuinely fresh fish should taste. The portions are generous and well-priced, so you won't break the bank by coming here. A top choice go with empty bellies!

Restaurante El Salinero is one of the best restaurants in Lanzarote for families with young children. Located in Calle Costa Rubicon, not only does it offer high quality, affordable food, it has a dedicated area for young children to play. This restaurant is also air conditioned, which is a blessing when the weather is too hot to handle. As well as great food, diners can enjoy a special offer where tapas are served every Friday along with a small beer for 1 only.  

Leita de Proa is another good family-friendly restaurant, which benefits from an ideal location in Ribera del Charco opposite the beautiful Charco de San Gines. Enjoy wonderful views while dining al fresco the order of the day is a wide variety of traditional Canarian dishes such as Pescado a la Plancha and Revuelto de Chanpiones. There's a strong focus on fresh ingredients and keeping the bill as palatable as the food.

A taste of home

In the mood for fish n' chips? Tasty, cheap and cheerful, sometimes only a big portion of fish and chips will do. Double Six Fish n Chips serve beautiful battered cod, which is imported from the UK. Family-friendly and well-loved for its fresh food and service with a smile, this is a great place if you're seeking a quick bite to eat and have a horde of hungry mouths to feed. Best bit? Roll the die provided by the friendly owners; land a pair of sixes and your meal will be free. Good luck!

McSorley's located in Puerto Calero Marina is the place to go if you fancy a taste of home. Scottish kippers and a full English breakfast are on the menu among other quintessentially British foodie favourites. The restaurant has Wi-Fi connection, too, so you can catch up on news back home while tucking into a hearty bit of pub grub. It's child-friendly, so all the family will be catered for.

Thanks to a team of friendly and cheerful staff, a handy location and well-priced, tasty homemade food, Hennessey's is top choice if you're looking to enjoy hearty dishes with a distinct British twist washed down with a pint of the black stuff. The sea views are lovely, too.

Head to Bozena's Bar & Restaurant to enjoy fantastic Polish and Irish cuisine and a good selection of well-priced drinks. Located in Puerto del Carmen, this popular, cosy restaurant is open for breakfast/brunch, lunch and dinner. Well loved by tourists and locals alike for its welcoming atmosphere, excellent service and delicious, reasonably-priced food, Bozena's also caters for vegetarians with a good range of veggie dishes available.

Seafood  

Thanks to it seaside location, the pretty seaside village of El Golfo is an ideal place to go if you want to enjoy a superb fish supper. El Caleton is a top little restaurant specialising in fish and seafood and boasts some wonderful sea views to boot. Freshly-caught, raw fish is displayed on a platter so that you can take a peek before taking your pick. Friendly, fast service and a picturesque dining area are further boosted by affordable prices and the sound of the ocean crashing on the island's iconic black rocks below. We do love to be beside the seaside

Restaurante Bogavante benefitting from a prime spot on the beach and stunning sea views; is yet another El Golfo gem. From its attractive covered terrace, diners can enjoy al fresco dining. The order of the day? Unsurprisingly, this restaurant specialises in fresh fish and seafood - plus a good selection of wine. Perfect for a light lunch or romantic dinner, Restaurante Bogavante is well known for its excellent service and seriously idyllic seaside setting.

Asian

If you love Indian cuisine, head to Fazz's Indian restaurant situated in Avenida de las Playas. Specialising in authentic, modern Bengali cuisine, if you're craving a curry - head here. The food is super fresh and the menu covers a wide range of delicious Indian dishes such as King Prawn Madrad and Chicken Tikka Madras. The restaurant is spacious yet cosy, while the service is swift and the staff very warm and friendly; the sea views are pretty glorious, too. Fazz's Tripadvisor reviews tally up to an impressive 100% in terms of excellence and recommendations. Take-away is also available. An excellent restaurant with a so far - flawless reputation.

Bollywood Indian Restaurant in Puerto del Carmen restaurant serves tasty, authentic Indian food in a clean, welcoming and relaxed environment. Generous portions at reasonable prices with cheap beer to boot this is a top place to go for a Ruby Murray. Lovely staff, nice décor and a laid-back feel Bollywood bliss.  

Craving some sushi? Located in Marina of Puerto Calero, Sushi Bar Minato is run by people with an extremely  keen eye for detail; both in terms of food, service and setting. Benefitting from wonderful sea views and suitably stylish décor, this restaurant is the place to go if you're in the mood for some seriously good Japanese food. Don't miss the fried ice cream washed down with choya plum wine divine.  

Tired of tapas? Head to Teppanyaki Nippon in Puerto Del Carmen for another top quality Japanese restaurant offering high quality food, great service and an eagle-eyed attention to the finer details. Spotlessly clean and welcoming, Teppanyaki serves up delicious Japanese dishes served in a swift and efficient manner always with a smile. If you opt for cooked dishes over sushi the chef will cook it right in front of you. Situated in the harbour of the Old Town, grab a table on the outdoor terrace and enjoy the spectacular sea views. This restaurant can be tricky to find but persevere it's well worth it.
