Although this type of weather condition doesn't post any extreme danger, it can bring high temperatures up to 10°C higher than normal very low visibility and general discomfort.

The four-star VIK Hotel San Antonio is also located on the seafront, next to the Blue Flag beach of Playa de Los Pocillos in Puerto del Carmen. For something more budget-friendly, consider staying at Holiday Village Flamingo Beach. This complex is found in Playa Blanca close to the beach and is made up of 284 apartments and 21 studios, each of which features the essentials, including a full bathroom, living room with satellite TV and ceiling fan and well-equipped kitchenette. 

Within the hotel you'll find three swimming pools, one of which is heated, sun terrace with loungers, mini spa, sports courts, supermarket, WiFi access and mini spa. If you feel like a spa break, consider staying at the four-star Hotel Costa Calero in Yaiza. Lanzarote Beach for April 

Playa Quemada

Make the most of the spring sunshine and heas for the beach during your holiday in Lanzarote. If you want to avoid the Easter crowds, spend an hour or two at Playa Quemada. This quiet bay isn't as popular as many others in the south of the island. Therefore, it doesn't have facilities such as sun loungers and shades so make sure you take your own things with you. The beach is made up of natural volcanic black sands peppered with a few pebbles.

The sands gently slope into the calm, clear waters which are not affected at all by bad currents, making them perfect for swimming in. The best time to visit this beach is on a weekday when most of the locals are at work. Playa Quemada can be reached by driving along a dirt track off the main road from Arrecife to Playa Blanca or by taking a boat trip from Puerto Calero.

April marks the start of the windsurfing season in Lanzarote, when the north-east trade winds blow side/side off shore consistently from the left, reaching 11-27 knots. Since Lanzarote is the easternmost of the Canary Islands, it is the first hit by the trade winds, meaning the island enjoy more windy days than any other island.

Las Cucharas Beach

This creates the perfect windsurfing conditions. Windsurfing Club Las Cucharas is based on Las Cucharas beach in Costa Teguise the best known windsurfing spot in Lanzarote. This windsurfing club offers eight eco boards, 12 pro boards and ten team edition boards to rent. If you're new to windsurfing, there are children, junior, beginner, intermediate, fun-board and special coaching courses available, too.

Bar Vali

Bar Vali is an excellent, bar, cafe and restaurant serving up both Spanish and English food. If you are looking for food at a reasonable cost, along with good old fashioned Cheese and Ham toastie then look no further. They are also known for their cocktails, generous in measurements. 

La Cantina

If you are looking for Tapas, La Cantina has proved extremely popular with holiday makers and locals of Lanzarote. Serving up various traditional spanish dishes such as Potato Bravas, and Chorizo in cider, it's likely there will be something for everyone.

Things to do in Lanzarote in April 

Escualo Fishing Lanzarote

April is one of the best months of the year to go big game fishing in Lanzarote. This month marks the beginning of the Bluefin Tuna and Albacore fishing season, when the two species of fish are attracted to the waters around the island due to the increasing sea temperature. Escualo Fishing Lanzarote offers excursions to Lobo Island and also off the coast of Papagayo. 

The excursion takes place on the Escualo boat which is equipped with sonar, radar, GPS, VHF radio, reels and rods, providing you with everything you'll need. The price of your ticket includes transfer, snacks, drinks, fishing equipment, bait, lures and insurance. The tours are suitable for inexperienced and experienced fishermen alike and spectators are even welcome onboard to watch and soak up some rays whilst the others fish.

AquaLava

Families travelling with small children on an Easter holiday will have a great time at AquaLava in Playa Blanca. This water park is open throughout the year, but April is really the earliest that the water in the swimming pools and on the slides will be warm enough to enjoy a day out here. At the park you'll find a two water slides, heated swimming pools, lazy river, wave pool, designated kids' splash zones and mini clubs. There are also solariums with sun beds and a buffet restaurant. AquaLava is open every day from 10am until 6pm and entrance is free for guests staying at Relaxia Resorts.
