Things to do in Elounda in November
Bicycle Tour
A great way to spend a dry day in November when the temperature is not too hot, is to get out and about on a bicycle tour. This is the best way to explore the area, keep fit and active and learn about the local landscape. Try an off-road experience with mountain bike hire and soak up the stunning scenery as you cycle around the coast and mountain paths around the resort. Stop for lunch along the way in a traditional village Taverna and make new friends along the way.
Milatos Caves
If the weather is wet, go to the nearby Milatos Caves for a fascinating day out. Make sure you are ready for a walk when you visit this area, as access is via a 200m footpath with panoramic views of Milatos bay. The caves are pitch dark, so bring a flashlight, and admire the grey limestone walls against the red of the floor. Human activities within the caves date back to the Neolithic Period, and there is some violent history in the caves from Turkish invaders in 1823. A small church is inside the cave, built in 1935, with a memorial to those who perished in the battle.
