What's the Weather like in Elounda in August
August is the high tourist season for Elounda, Crete, and the beaches and bars can sometimes get crowded, although not as crowded as other resorts on the island. It is the dry season here in August, and the average rainfall in this month is only 2mm falling over the month, making it one of the driest months of the year along with July. The area has a similar climate to Monaco. The chance of seeing any rain while visiting now is just 3% and this is more likely to occur towards the end of the month. Rain may be light or moderate and thunderstorms may occur occasionally at this time of year. The highest rainfall seen at this time of year was 129mm over the course of the month.

Temperatures are gradually starting to cool towards the end of the month. The days are long, but starting to gradually decrease in length. Plaka Beach
For a different beach experience, head to Plaka beach. This pebbly beach is situated in the fishing village of Plaka and overlooks the beautiful island of Spinalonga. When the sea temperatures reach 260C in August, this is a great alternative to the sandy, busier beaches to swim and relax in the sun while experiencing a little local culture in the village.

The popular restaurant Marilena is a traditional Greek restaurant owned by two Greek brothers, was established in 1977.
