Hesdin has a temperate climate with all four seasons, regular rainfall and no extremes of temperature. Climatically it is very similar to the south of England with a tendency to be a bit cool and grey, but it is slightly warmer and sunnier than its neighbour. The North Sea and the British Channel heavily influence weather conditions across the Nord Pas de Calais region and in fact all of western France, moderating the temperature throughout the seasons and sending strongs winds over the rolling plains.

Summer, from June till September, is warm but a little unpredicatble. The average high temperature gets up to 19°C in June, 22°C in July and August, and back down to 19°C in September. At night it cools off considerably, getting down to an average of 11°C in the fringe months and 13°C in the peak of the season. On calm days 20°C is plenty warm enough for those who find themselves immobilised by the turgid heat of more southerly climes and on sunny days the temperature is often pushed into the mid 20s. It is fairly dry but rain does tend to fall in frequent light showers rather than getting things over and done with; donât travel without a jacket! This is a beautiful part of the country with a rolling green landscape and endless chateaux, and Hesdin is not far from the coast which is famed for its seafood. While Normandy cannot boast the heat of the south of France, there are plenty of reasons to visit the area and summer certainly has the best weather in the year.
Autumn, in October and November, cools down quite quickly. The average high falls to 15°C in October and 10°C in November. The average low gets down to 8°C and 5°C respectively. Because it can be so windy in this region it can feel really rather cold early on in autumn and you should remember to pack a few layers. The sun also tends to hide away a bit behind clouds that drizzle a bit more frequently, but conditions are at least not worse than those in the UK.
Winter, from December till February, is mild and grey. The average high temperature drops to around 7°C for most of the season and the average low to around 2°C. It regularly drops below freezing and frosts are common. The wind often makes it feel much cooler. Like in the UK, snow is said to be rare, but a few white-blanketed days are likely to occur each winter. Sunshine levels drop to an average of two hours per day which sounds pretty upsetting but in fact is a 100% improvement on a London December. Rainfall remains moderate.
Spring, from March till May, gradually warms up again though nights remain chilly. The average high temperature rises to 10°C in March, 13°C in April and 17°C in May, while average lows reach 4°C, 5°C and 8°C respectively. The weather is generally quite changeable and unpredictable throughout spring. This is actually on average the driest time of year. May sees many bright, clear days and temperatures around 20°C often occur towards June.
