Rain

March is a little on the wet side in Sardinia, however if you remain on the coast, you probably won't notice it as much. You can expect an average of 23mm of precipitation throughout the month, which affects up to 14 days on average simply take an umbrella and get out and explore the island, as any rainfall is generally short-lived and leaves behind blue skies.

Sunshine Hours / Temperature

Despite the rain, the sun is beginning to shine a little more as the island begins to shape up for the summer season, averaging around 6 hours of sunshine per day, reaching an average temperature of 12°C.

You can expect a high of 16°C, and a low of around 7°C, with still quite chilly evenings despite summer being just around the corner.

Sea Temperature

The same goes for the sea temperature, with swimming still only for the very brave, as the Mediterranean is still only averaging around 14°C during March.

You could say that March is definitely spring time in Sardinia, which makes for the perfect excuse to go walking in the countryside and head into the centre of the island. There are many marked walking trails around, which take you through some stunning scenery.

Bars And Restaurants

Panino Rustico

Cagliari has some fantastic restaurants, with something for every budget, but it might also be that you don't want to sit down for hours and pour over a large meal, and you simply want something light to pick at on the go. In that case, Panino Rustico is your best bet. The sandwiches here are simply to die for, made fresh, and mouth-watering for an on the go snack, with a coffee at the side of course.

La Rocca Olbia Ristorante

In Olbia you have similar choices, but one restaurant you shouldn't miss is La Rocca Olbia Ristorante. Things To Do In Sardinia In March

If you find yourself with a longer holiday, or you just want to explore as much as you possibly can whilst you're in the region, it is possible to head over to mainland Italy for a couple of days from Sardinia. The best way to do this is certainly to fly, because the ferry can taking anything from 7 hours upwards, but flights from Cagliari to the mainland are quick and certainly cheap.

The Artichoke Festival

If you prefer to stay on the island, head to Alghero on the second Sunday of the month for a celebration which may sound odd, but is extremely popular The Artichoke Festival. This is a celebration of all things traditional food-wise, obviously encompassing the artichoke in particular, and includes dancing, tasting, and sporting events.

Alghero

Alghero itself has plenty to enjoy during the winter months, and is one of the resorts which generally stays open to a degree all year around. The north is a more rugged, wild beast, and the beaches around here are certainly breath-taking during this time of year. Without the tourists you will experience a more authentic, Sardinian, laid-back way of life, and the perfect way to experience this is to sit and have a cup of coffee along one of the main streets in the quaint old town.

Cagliari Spas
