The Praia das Marcas
or apples beach, got its name from the nearby orchards where apples used to fall from the trees and get carried into the sea by the Colares river. Praia da Aguda
Nearby is the Praia da Aguda. There are no facilities and you can only access the beach by a very steep set of stairs. It is a great place to enjoy a quiet day at the beach.
Praia da Ursa
Rated as one of the best beaches in the world, the Praia da Ursa has soft white sand and even a small waterfall to lure the traveller to its shores. Access is difficult. You must get off at one of the bus stops in Ursa and walk 20 minutes to the ocean front. It is worth the walk and the waves are stupendous for surfers.

Another great place for a drink is A Ginginha on Largo de Sao Domingos. The name refers to a local cherry brandy. The small bar is the traditional home of the drink. Sample the strong, sweet alcohol that's based on wine infused with cherries and lots of sugar.

The Restaurante Casanova has a beautiful outdoor terrace facing the river. A popular pizzeria, you will need to get there early as the lines are very long most days. The speciality desert is a Nutella pizza.

Things to do in Lisbon in March
Golf do Estoril
The warm but mild temperatures mean this is a perfect time to head to one of Lisbon's many golf courses. The 18 hole Golf do Estoril has hosted the Portuguese open tournament several times, and you wish to take a long break there you can stay at the Hotel Palacio.
Lisbon Sports Club
Lisbon Sports club features an 18 hole course as well as a clubhouse with restaurant and bar. The Quinta da Beloura Golfe is set among dense woodlands and lakes, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. Sailing enthusiasts should head to Cascais and Estoril for the King Juan Carlos' Cup, which is an international sailing regatta.
Marathon
And those of you who compete in marathons may join the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon which sees over 25,000 people taking part. This is an exciting event due to the amount of people that get involved.
Jerome's Monastery or Hieronymites Monastery
Jerome's Monastery or Hieronymites Monastery was built in the early 1500s. Designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site the architecture and history associated with the site make it a must-see for visitors to Lisbon. There are also two museums on-site.

The Church of Santa Engracia is best known for its tombs. Many famous statesmen and artists are buried in the church. For anyone interested in history this is a must visit.
