Avg Historical Daily Average

The month of June in La Palma is a popular time to visit because the constantly warm temperatures get even hotter, making the beaches all the more attractive. The average temperature this month is 21°C (70°F), while the average low is 19°C (66°F) and the average high is 23°C (73°F). With only four degrees separating the low from the high, visitors to La Palma in June experience warm temperatures throughout the entire day. The beginning of June starts off with sunny days, a minimal chance of rain, and an average daily temperature of 21°C (70°C). The middle of the month is the same as the start sunny days without the threat of rain and the same average daily temperature. The end of June remains the same as the rest of the month, except the average daily temperature rises to 22°C (72°F). The lowest ever recorded temperature in June in La Palma is 15°C (59°F) and the highest ever recorded temperature is 29°C (84°F).

The average daily sunshine in June is seven hours. This is the same total as the two months prior to it, so despite the increase in temperature and the decrease in clouds, the amount of sunshine in June does not also increase. The average rainfall this month is just 10mm spread out over two days throughout the month. These low totals mean that rainfall is basically nonexistent in June, which is true for all of the summer months in La Palma.

There is finally a significant jump in the average sea temperature that occurs in June, as it rises to 18°C (64°F). Despite the warmer water, this is still considered to be relatively cool, and most people would not want to stay in the water for longer than 15 to 20 minutes.

The average humidity in June is 75% and this is the first time since January that the average total increases from 70%. This is a rather high total and combined with the hotter temperatures is enough to cause some discomfort.

Los Guirres Beach is also referred to as the "Volcano Beach," and is popular among surfers. There are strong waves here which surfers love, but are not ideal for casual swimmers. Regardless, the crystal clear water is tempting to jump into, especially on a hot day. Depending on what time of the year you visit Los Guirres Beach, it could look very different. In May, the beach will be sandy, but in the winter months, the beach is filled with pebbles due to the changing of the currents throughout the year. The best options for restaurants are north of the beach (about a five minute drive), like La Tasquita, which serves tapas and cold beer, while overlooking a banana plantation and the ocean. Los Guirres Beach is about a 45 minute drive southwest of Santa Cruz.

La Zamora Beach is a great beach to visit if you want to avoid the crowds that can appear during the summer months. The beach is in a bay that receives sun throughout the day and is made up of black, volcanic sand that is 150 metres long and 15 metres wide. There are moderate waves here which make surfing popular, but is also a good swimming area. Conditions are excellent for scuba diving as well. There are no services on this beach, but it is maintained and cleaned regularly. Taburiente Restaurant is about a 15 minute walk south of the beach and serves dinner with specialties from the Canaries, as well as general Spanish cuisine. La Zamora Beach is a 55 minute drive south of Santa Cruz.

Ristorante Sadi is known for having an international crowd and thus their menu reflects this. They offer both local and international dishes, with options like fresh fish, pastas, lamb with potato gratin, and desserts like mangoes with yogurt cheesecake and panna cotta. They also have an extensive wine list to pair perfectly with your selection. They are open from 1 PM to 11 PM on Monday through Saturday, and from 1 PM to 5 PM on Sundays. Ristorante Sadi is about a 15 minute drive south of Santa Cruz.

Arepera El Rinconcito offers a mix of Mexican and Spanish cuisine. Options such as tacos, guacamole, and fresh fish are available. They also have variety of tapas served in a more local style. The atmosphere here can be just as good as the food, as there is always fun music playing and the service is very attentive and friendly. There is also a covered rooftop area which is the perfect place to enjoy a meal this time of year. Arepera El Rinconcito is about a 35 minute drive west of Santa Cruz.

If you enjoy seeing unusual animals, head to the Maroparque isla de La Palma. This zoo has a wide variety of wildlife for visitors to witness including exotic birds, an array of mammals (like marmosets, monkeys, and wallabies), reptiles (like boa constrictors, turtles, iguanas, and crocodiles), as well as several types of fish. There is also a bar/restaurant on-site serving local dishes. The zoo costs 11 for adults and 5.50 for children and is open from 11 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday, and from 11 AM to 6 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. A great way to experience some of La Palma's history is by visiting the town of San Andrés. It was a colonial settlement that was the first of its kind in the region. Many of the houses here have been kept in the traditional style in which they were built. Between their classic architecture and cobbled streets, visiting San Andrés is like going back in time. There is an old church in the village that is worth checking out. It was built sometime during the beginning of the 16th century and contains lovely paintings and sculptures. San Andrés is about a 30 minute drive north of Santa Cruz.
