June is one of Blackpool's busiest months. The seaside resort begins to get crowded with people on holiday and school children who are on their summer break. The summer weather also begins in earnest, leaping up several degrees from the spring months such as May and providing a much more pleasant stay. If you want to stroll along the beach with an ice cream, this is the time to visit.

This month supports numerous activities with its hospitable weather. You will enjoy average temperatures of 14°C, with highs averaging 17°C and lows averaging 10°C. According to the residents, this is quite warm in fact, only 2 months out of the year are warmer than this. You won't need to take your coat with you everywhere you go, and might get away with only a t-shirt on some days.

This is also one of the resort's sunniest times. However, the weather changes quite often and holidaymakers should expect some rain. In fact, on average 17mm of precipitation will come down over an average of 16 days. This means you are likely to see quite a few dry days, and when the rain comes, often it simply serves the purpose of cooling things down a bit. Keep an eye on the weather forecast all the same.

The sea is also relatively warm as it has an average temperature of 14°C. However, the chill does not dampen the spirits of holidaymakers as you will usually find a number of people at the beach or in the sea throughout the month. This is perhaps the first time that you can really get away with swimming, but make sure you bring beach towels so you can dry off and warm up quickly when you get out of the sea. You can take part in some water-based activities at this time of year as well.

Where to Stay

With the June heat, you'll want to be near the beach. The Doric Hotel is located on the Queen's Promenade and has a 3-star rating, providing breakfast and dinner as well as spacious rooms. There is also a pool area and a bar should you need some refreshments or want to relax away from the beach.

The Premier Inn Blackpool (Bispham) Hotel is a good choice if you want something with a good standard and reasonable price that you can rely on. It is a little further from the beachfront, which means you can expect a quieter stay. However, it's still close enough that you can easily go out and enjoy yourself. There is a restaurant on site if you don't feel like venturing out!

Then there is the Viking Hotel. It's a kid-free zone which brings huge choices for entertainment, for those who love to have a lot of fun! There is cabaret entertainment, a large venue for shows, professional dancers, comedians and singers, as well as a disco that runs late. There's also a restaurant serving full English breakfasts and 3-course dinners, while all the rooms have en-suite bathrooms.

Hit the Beach

Since the average temperature of the sea hits 14°C this month, it's time to think about going out to the beach. The Blackpool North Beach is sandy with plenty of excitement to offer: you can find cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby, as well as being able to hire deckchairs or just walk along the promenade. Dogs are banned, but there is a lifeguard service in force if you want to go swimming.

Restaurants and Nightlife

If you are looking for something a little bit different, then the American food served at West Coast Rock Café will certainly hit the spot. Here they have the best in Tex-Mex cuisine, with burgers, steaks, barbecue ribs, chicken, and more served daily. Families are certainly welcome, and the place has been run by one family itself since 1987 when it opened. There's also a club upstairs!

Another Italian option comes in the form of La Piazza II, which has recently been taken over by new owners. The focus is on great quality food and professional service, with an a la carte menu that encompasses veal, seafood, steak, chicken, pizza, and pasta. It's a great place for a romantic meal!

Things to Do

If you have a competitive spirit, then you can't let yourself leave Blackpool without visiting Laser Quest Blackpool. This is a great place to have a party, or just to have some fun with friends. They have some great packages for adults as well as for kids, with drinks included. Every Sunday they hold an Armageddon event, in which you can try new games and enjoy the facilities for 3 hours.

As the weather in June is so much warmer, you can try Adrenaline Zone too. This is an outdoor entertainment area on the South Pier, with rollercoasters for you to scream or laugh your way round. They also have huge trampolines, as well as the gyro loop, in which you control your own rollercoaster car to send it backwards or forwards at the touch of a button.

If you want to go ice skating, then the Blackpool Pleasure Beach Arena is the place to be. Here you can go skating yourself in a purpose built ice theatre, the oldest in the world, or just watch the professionals performing in the Hot Ice show. There's also a café and bar where you can catch your breath later on.
