Zante Hotels in February

The 62 rooms, four family suites, and two junior suites are well maintained. Each room is luxuriously furnished with its own balcony. A conference center of three rooms is available for those needed to conduct business or hold group meetings. The Palatino Cafe and Cocktail Bar, and the Trinity restaurant features a variety of choices for breakfast.
Zante Beach for February
In the middle of the Bay of Laganas is Marathonisi "Turtle" Island, shaped like a turtle floating in the sea. The island hosts two beaches: a large, white sandy beach, the best on the bay, and a smaller beach with caves to explore and is suitable of snorkeling.
It is a ten minute scheduled ride by boat from Laganas, Agios Sostis, or Porto Koukla, or charter your own boat for a leisurely cruise across the bay. Marathonisi is a protected marine park preserving the untouched nature of this island gem.
Gerakas beach, located 11 miles south of Zakynthos, is considered by many to be the most beautiful on the island. The sandy beach rings a large cove and is ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Rock formations dot the landscape, and its isolated nature makes it a refuge for the endangered Caretta-Caretta sea turtle. There is free parking by the path the leads to the tranquil beach.
Bars and Restaurants
Votsalo Taverna, In Marathias, with its calm and idyllic surroundings and reasonable prices, serves breakfast and lunch and has a light evening menu. It specialises in fresh and well-cooked fare including lobster, octopus, and dorada, a Mediterranean delicacy. Be sure to order the delicious moleux aux chocolat for dessert. Reservations are available.
The Royal Cafe Patisserie, at Paradise corner in Slit, as a modern, relaxing coffee shop for breakfast, brunch, and late night, and even delivers if you are lodging in town. The coffee and cakes and superb and the pastries are huge. It is an ideal place for a simple midday snack. A favourite is Pan au Chocolate, covered in chocolate sauce.
On the main road at the beach in Alykes, is Fishalida Beach Bar. It is known for its quirky décor such as lamp shades made from cheese graters and buckets. The owners are a family of professional fishermen preparing traditional fresh fish dishes. Recommended is their fried courgettes, seafood platter for two, shrimp risotto, salmon and pasta, not to mention a delicious cod.
Zakanthi Bar Restaurant is the place to go if you're staying in the Kalamaki area. Known for its inviting atmosphere and live music nights, this classic taverna serves up a wide selection of meze, grilled meats, salads and seafood dishes, all from locally-sourced ingredients.
Things to do in Zante in February
Since February may remain cool on the island of Zante, Greece, it might be a time best reserved for indoor activities. The one-of-a-kind Helmi's Natural History Museum,is located in Avia Marina Village in a beautiful, traditional building. Founded in the year 2000 by Panayiotis Helmis, the valuable collection includes over 1500 samples of natural Zakynthian natural flora and fauna .
It represents over 40 years of Mr. Helmis' collection including stuffed animals, preserved fish, skeletons, shells, massive fossils and pinned butterflies and moths. The museum is suitable for individuals or tour groups and kids are thrilled. Hours are from 9:00am to 6:pm.
The Museum of Salomos and Kalvos, is located in a Neoclassical building on St. Marcos Square in Zakynthos. It contains the mausoleum of the final resting place for the National Greek Poet, Dionysios Salomos as well as the poet Andreas Kalvos and his wife. Other displays include paintings, personal items, and manuscripts from the rich cultural life of Zante; plus a rich collection of portraits, a library, period furniture, and folk art. Don't miss the statue of Dionysios Solomos, by sculptor Georgios Vroutos from 1902. Hours are 9am to 2pm.
