Watford, England<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Watford is a borough in Hertfordshire, Eastern England and is situated 20 miles northwest of central London. It has a maritime climate with four distinct seasons and no extremes in temperature. Although rainfall is distributed all-year round, precipitation levels are considerably low in Watford.
Although Eastern England has the greatest frequency of tornadoes in the UK, these tornadoes are nowhere near as intense or severe as those reported in America. However, care must still be taken and it is recommended that visitors check the weather forecast before their arrival to come fully prepared.
Summer is typically the hottest time of year in Watford, with temperatures reaching up to around 22°C; so it may be a good idea to take sun cream with you, just to be on the safe side. The lower temperatures tend to hang around 15°C, give or take a few degrees. Summer is a fairly dry time of year, with only 37 to 51 millimetres of precipitation in total each month, spread out over a maximum of 14 days.
Watford may be the perfect holiday destination with its beautiful Cassiobury Park â" an ideal day out, especially during the summer months. It has 190 acres of open space and has something for everyone - whether you want to walk the dog, go for a stroll, let the children spend time in the play area (including a paddling pool, play equipment, mini train track rides and bouncy castle) or just admire the green space (awarded one of the best open green spaces in the country with the Green Flag Award), a fun day out is sure to be had.
Autumn in Watford is typically cooler compared to the summer months, but the borough still tends to have rather comfortable weather with temperatures reaching up to around a cool 11°C. The lower temperatures seem to drop down to an average of around 10°C, so itâs probably a good idea to pack some warm items of clothing with you for your stay. Another way of keeping warm (and healthy!) is cycling around Watford, as the town centre and surrounding areas is generally flat terrain with more than 20 kilometres of direct cycle routes, avoiding busy roads.
Autumn is the wettest season of the year, but it still relatively mild, with up to around 60 millimetres of precipitation each month over around 11 rainy days. However, it is still probably a good idea to pack a few waterproofs and umbrella with you.
Winter is the coldest season of the year with the lowest temperatures hanging around a chilly 4°C and it is unlikely that temperatures will reach above 8°C, so it really is a good idea to come prepared for cold weather. Watford has no more than around 48 millimetres of precipitation spread out over each month, but visitors may expect some snow in February.
Spring has the borough of Watford at its driest with up to just 116 millimetres of rainfall throughout the months of March, April and May! Temperatures reach up to a peak of around 17°C in the spring months, and the lower temperatures normally hang around 7°C. The weather can still be rather chilly, especially with around one day of some snow in the months of March and April.
