What's The Weather Like In Vilamoura In October

Despite most of Europe cooling down in October, VilamouraPortgual, remains pleasantly warm at this time of year. The summer crowds have almost completely disappeared, leaving the beaches empty and the resort quiet. It's a great time to visit if you want one last burst of sunshine before the winter draws in.

Temperature

Even though Vilamoura is heading swiftly towards winter in October, average daily temperatures still languish at around 19°C, and often reach 23°C and higher during the hottest parts of the day. In the evenings temperatures can drop to 14°C, proving cooler but still relatively mild nights.

Pack a cardigan or jumper for the chillier evenings, but lightweight clothes and a hat will suffice for the daytime. Don't forget your suncream, either, as the Mediterranean sun is still strong at this time of year.

Sunshine Hours

The biggest difference between October and the summer months in Vilamoura are the amount of hours of sunshine. During October you can expect about 7 hours of sunlight per day. The sun sets earlier than in September, but there is still plenty of time to get stuck into everything the resort has to offer.

Sea Temperature

And what you lose in hours of sunshine, you gain in sea temperatures! The water has had all summer to heat up and sits at a very welcoming 20°C in October perfect for casual swimmers and splashing about in the shallows. The winter breeze starts to pick up in October, too, providing ideal conditions for watersports.

Rain

As winter descends upon Vilamoura the chance of rainfall increases considerably, with around 67mm falling on average throughout the month. Showers at this time of year tend to come quickly and pass quickly, but be sure to pack an umbrella so you don't get caught out.

The temperature doesn't move much throughout the month the start of October sees average high temperatures of 23°C whilst towards the end of the month they drop to around 21°C. The average low temperatures follow a similar pattern the month begins with average lows of 17°C and ends at around 14°C.

If you're looking for near-empty beaches, a spot of peace and quiet, and cooler temperatures than the searing summer months, then a visit to Vilamoura in October might just be the thing for you!
