Although not considered summer in VilamouraPortugal, May is characterised by long, sun-filled days, minimal rainfall, and rapidly increasing temperatures. Summer is just around the corner, and the resort is gearing up for its busiest time of year. If you visit in May you get the best of both worlds great weather and fewer crowds than in peak season.

Temperature

The average daily temperature in Vilamoura in May is 17°C, but in the hottest part of the day, temperatures can rise to 22°C and above. Temperatures never dip below 12°C, even at night, producing very pleasant, mild evenings. Pack lightweight clothing, a hat and suncream at this time of year, and throw in a thin cardigan, too, for when it gets slightly cooler after dark. May begins with average high temperatures of 20°C, which rise to a warm 24°C by the end of the month, whilst the average lows of 11°C at the start of the month rise to 15°C as May comes to a close.

Sunshine Hours

With around 10 hours of sunshine per day throughout May, there is plenty of time to soak up the sun on the beach or explore the sights on offer in the resort. May marks the turning point from spring to summer and the resort starts to get busy so it's wise to book in advance for any activities you are interested in doing.
