What's The Weather Like In Vilamoura In June

Say hello to hot sunshine and long days filled with blue skies. June in VilamouraPortugal, is really hotting up as the resort enters summer. The great weather attracts sun-seeking tourists so expect to see the beaches, restaurants, and hotels filling up at this time of year. It's best to book in advance for any activities you wish to do to ensure you don't miss out.

Temperature

Daily temperatures are a very pleasant 21°C, but the mercury regularly soars to 25°C and above. At night, the temperatures rarely fall below 16°C, meaning evenings are warm and close. The temperatures continue to rise throughout the month, with the average high temperature of 23°C at the start of the month soaring to 28°C by the end, and the average low temperature of 15°C at the beginning of June rising to a pleasant 18°C.

Be sure to pack a few bottles of suncream, a hat, and lightweight summery clothing to keep the heat at bay. It's unlikely you'll need extra layers for the evenings, but if you feel the cold then slip in a cardigan or thin jumper to be on the safe side.

Rain

There's very little rain in June, with a measly 8mm falling throughout the entire month. It's very, very unlikely you'll come across any showers during your trip and, if you do, they'll either be at night or will pass quickly.

Sunshine Hours

The days are long in June in Vilamoura, with around 11 hours of sunshine per day. This means that there's plenty of opportunity to hit the beaches and get out and explore the area. Evenings are warm and light, too, offering more hours to enjoy the resort.

Sea Temperature

Talking of beaches, the sea temperatures are considerably warmer than previous months, with waters reaching around 19°C. It's not as hot as July or August, but that means it's a refreshing relief from the hot sun. The sea breezes have died down in June, too, which means casual swimmers can bask in the waters without a care in the world. Watersports are hugely popular in Vilamoura and the cooler water temperatures are perfect for trying out some windsurfing or kitesurfing.

June is a fantastic time to visit Vilamoura. The crowds aren't quite as big as in the height of summer, so the warm temperatures combined with the calm waters and long days mean you can enjoy all that the resort has to offer without getting caught up in the crowds.

Vilamoura Beaches For June

The warm June weather draws in the crowds to Vilamoura and the beaches start to get busy, so make sure you head down early to secure a sunbed for the day.

Quarteira

Quarteira sits just along the coast from Vilamoura and boasts a huge, expansive beach lined with lively bars and restaurants, as well as palm trees for that extra exotic touch. The large area of sand means there's plenty of room for everyone and enough space to indulge in some beach games like volleyball. The clear blue waters offer some respite from the early summer sun and the shallows are the perfect place to splash around and cool off in.

Coelha

For a more secluded experience, head to the coved beach of Coelha. This smaller beach offers a more intimate feel, and the tall, rugged cliffs that surround it provide shelter from any wind. There are some unusual rock formations here and, when the tide is out, there's the opportunity for a little rock pooling. If you get tired of lying on the beach, you can always take a walk in the surrounding scenery.

Don Alfonso

Don Alfonso is a stylish restaurant bar in the heart of Vilamoura. The menu is filled with mouth-watering local dishes, including tiger prawns, bass, Duck Magret, and seafood linguini. The modern colourful décor provides an up-market dining experience for all tastes.

Fairways Restaurant

For traditional Portuguese flavours, book a table at Fairways Restaurant, which boasts an expansive menu for all the family. Delve into the local cuisine with prawns, fresh fish, a selection of steaks, and a comforting range of desserts. Located in Vilamoura Marina, the restaurant has fantastic views out across the harbour and beyond.

Don Toro

Steak lovers must check out Don Toro, the local Angus steakhouse. Using freshly imported beef from Argentina and Uruguay, the steaks are sumptuously tender and grilled to perfection, providing a delicious, hearty meal for any meat lover. Pair your meal with one of the local red wines, like a Quinta do Crasto or a Quatro Caminhos.

Lesters Golf School

Vilamoura is a hotspot for golf lovers and the warm June temperatures provide the perfect backdrop for teeing off. Head to Lesters Golf School for beginners lessons or, if you're an advanced player, to try your hand at the expansive course.

AquaShow

AquaShow is the perfect place to cool off in the sun. The expansive water park is home to the largest water rollercoaster in Europe, as well as numerous pools, rivers, and water rides for all the family. Make a day of it and visit the reptile, bird of prey, and sealion shows as well.

Roman ruins of Cerro da Vila

Culture lovers should set aside some time to visit the Roman ruins of Cerro da Vila, an archaeological site in Vilamoura. Here, visitors can wander through the on-site museum which offers a glimpse into the resort's past, as well as discover the set of graves that date back to the Bronze Age.
