What's The Weather Like In Vilamoura In February
Temperature
February is winter in Vilamoura, Portugal, but the weather is still very mild. It's warmer than January and has more hours of sunlight per day than January as the resort prepares for spring. Temperatures can reach 16°C, sometimes higher towards the end of the month, but the daily average is 13°C.
At night, the temperature can drop to 8°C, so the evenings are fairly mild for winter, but it's still worth packing a thicker jumper to keep the cooler air at bay. February is ushered in with an average high temperature of 15°C which rises to 16°C as the month comes to a close, whilst the average low temperatures start at around 6°C and rise to 8°C by the end of the month.
Rain
The winter months in Vilamoura get considerably more rain than the summer months, with February seeing around 72mm of rainfall. Slip an umbrella into your suitcase to be safe. The humidity is also fairly high at this time of year, with a daily average of 70% - though this provides a pleasant contrast to the cooler winter air.
Sunshine Hours
Despite the increased rainfall and lower temperatures, there are still 6 hours of sunlight per day in February (rising to 7 hours towards the end of the month), which means there's still plenty of time to get out and about and explore the area.
Sea Temperature
However, the sea temperature is pretty low at around 15°C thanks to the Atlantic currents, so it's best to stick to the swimming pools rather than venture out into the ocean. Sea breezes are still prevalent in February, making the waves choppy great for water sports but not so great for swimmers.
With mild, sunny days and cooler nights, it's important to pack layers if you're visiting Vilamoura in February. Take light shirts and t-shirts for the daytimes and a cardigan and thicker jumper for the evenings. Pack some suncream, too, as the sun is still strong at this time of year.
February is a great time to visit Vilamoura if you want to avoid the searing summer heat and the crowds that come with it. There's plenty of warm sunshine, but the temperatures are much more bearable than the summer months and the evenings are enjoyably cool. There is the increased chance of showers, but they are often quick and refreshing just make sure you pack some waterproofs in preparation.
