What's The Weather Like In Vilamoura In April

It's hotting up in April in VilamouraPortugal, with average maximum temperatures of 20°C. The weather is perfect for hitting the beach, and those visiting at this time will enjoy warm sunshine and refreshing sea breezes. The beaches are much less crowded than in the summer months and the restaurants and hotels are quieter, too.

Temperature

As the resort heads into summer, the temperature rarely falls below 10°C, and the daytime is sunny and warm. April is the perfect time to visit Vilamoura if you want to avoid the crowds and searing temperatures of summer, but still wish to enjoy warm, comfortable weather. 

Daily average temperatures sit at around 15°C, so pack some light-weight clothes and some sun cream, as well as a cardigan or jumper to throw on in the evenings. The temperature changes very little throughout the month, with average high temperatures of 18°C at the start of the month rising to 21°C at the end, and the average low temperature of 9°C at the beginning of April only shifting to 11°C at the end.

Rain

Rainfall is minimal in April, as Vilamoura looks towards the hotter and dryer summer months, and only around 38mm falls throughout the month. It's not much, but it's worth slipping an umbrella into your suitcase just so you don't get caught out.

Sunshine Hours

With an average of 8 hours of sunshine per day, there's plenty of time to get out and about in Vilamoura. There's lots to do in the evenings in the resort, too, and with around 12 hours of daylight per day, you can stay outside longer to enjoy them.

Sea Temperature

Despite the quickly climbing temperatures in April in Vilamoura, the average sea temperatures are rising slowly. Throughout the month, the average temperature is around 16°C, only 1°C warmer than March. However, the cooler temperature provides refreshment from the warm late spring sun, and it's the perfect temperature for snorkelling and water sports. Thanks to its Atlantic coast, Vilamoura experiences a soft sea breeze year round, offering relief from the hot sun, but it also means that the waves can be a bit choppy at times.

Humidity

Humidity levels in April are around 65% on average, and the air is considerably warmer than the previous months. It's not quite as hot as summer, but the temperatures are very pleasant and enjoyable. With 8 hours of sunshine a day, April is the perfect time to explore the beaches of Vilamoura, as well as the countryside surrounding it, without the crowds and sticky temperatures of the summer months.

Pinhal Da Marina

The Pinhal Da Marina apartments are set in peaceful surroundings 15 minutes from Vilamoura Marina. Each apartment has its own kitchenette and dining area, and there are three swimming pools, an on-site restaurant with take-away services, a playroom featuring computers and game consoles, outdoor ping pong tables, playing fields, and a tennis court.

Marina Buzios by Garvetur

Marina Buzios by Garvetur offer spacious 2-bedroom apartments just 150m from Vilamoura Marina with large balconies and an outdoor swimming pool. The surrounding area has numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants and Falesia beach is only 800m away. 

 

Vilamoura Beaches For April

Praia dos Olhos D'Agua

The warm temperatures of April are perfect for beachgoers. Along the coast towards Albufeira lies Praia dos Olhos D'Agua, a relatively small beach in comparison to the sprawling beaches immediately surrounding Vilamoura. It's a wide cove surrounded by red-brick cliffs and lush greenery, which means it's sheltered from any Atlantic winds perfect for enjoying the cooler April temperatures.

Praia das Belharucas

Nearer Vilamoura there's Praia das Belharucas, a secluded stretch of beach at the end of Falesia that is sheltered by rugged cliffs and boasts clear, turquoise waters. When the tide is out, the sand sprawls out for miles and is dotted with jutting, unusual rock formations and fascinating rock pools. In April, the beach is practically empty, offering you your own secluded haven to enjoy a book, get up close and personal with nature, and enjoy a paddle in the shallow waves.

Akvavit Restaurant

The Akvavit Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating areas and a menu filled with delicious fish dishes, like scallops, salmon, and prawns, as well as a selection of meat dishes such as Portuguese style steak and a juicy leg of lamb. The restaurant is located in the Marina and has fantastic views overlooking the harbour.

Capriccio Italia

Capriccio Italia is a pizza and gelateria perfect for all the family. It has a selection of pizza, pasta, and risotto dishes, as well as a variety of steaks and salads. Finish your meal with a specialist gelato (ice cream) whilst enjoying views across the beach.

Purobeach

For a chilled out evening, head to Purobeach, a laid back bar located right on the waterfront. It is characterised by low, comfy chairs and colourful lanterns, and visitors can sample the snack menu, which includes grilled lobster, salads, and burgers, or indulge in some classic cocktails and the Puro Wine Collection.

AquaShow

Visit AquaShow in Quarteira for some fun splashing around in the swimming pool, wave pool, Jacuzzi, and the Lazy River. The water park is home to Europe's biggest water rollercoaster, and there are also parrot shows, reptile shows, and sea lions to meet and greet. 

Sagres Point

History and culture lovers will enjoy a trip to Sagres Point, which sits on a jutting headland in the southwest of the Algarve. It was once the site of Henry the Navigator's fortress and remains an important tourist attraction in Portugal. Visitors can wander amongst the historic buildings, old army barracks, a central tower, and a 16th Century church of the Lady of Grace.

Polvo Watersports

Try some watersports with Polvo Watersports near the Vilamoura Marina. Here, you can hire boats and jet skis, and join dolphin-watching boat trips a great way to explore the seas surrounding Vilamoura.
