What's The Weather Like In Varadero In December
Rain
The hot dry season is in full swing now with less rainfall and slightly lower temperatures. You are in the tropics so it will always rain even in the dry season. It just will never be as much as the wet season that brings torrential rain and possible cyclones and hurricanes.
The December average rainfall is 20mm that will fall over 5 to 7 days. This is double that was seen in November but the most that will fall during the dry season in a month. The first 2 months of the New Year will see the same rainfall patterns and it will lessen to 10mm during March and April when the dry season ends and the wet hot season takes over in May.
Temperature
The average temperature has dropped to 22°C that sits between the average high/low temperatures of 17°C and 27°C. Temperatures here don't vary a lot due to the proximity to the equator and the night time lows are pleasant and not too cold to be outdoors.
Humidity
With the dry season the average humidity has dropped again to 80% but many days will be a lot a less due to lower temperatures and less rain.
Temperature
Ocean temperatures here change only a few degrees over the year and in December the average sea temperature is 26°C and it will continue to fall slightly towards the low of 24°C in February and is just 4 degrees lower than the high of 30°C in August. Even at its coolest the sea is still pleasant for swimming and other water activities.
Sunshine Hours
Average sunshine hours remain at 7 and will stay at this level until the end of February. The high number of foggy days is contributing the lower number of sunshine hours during the dry season.
Foggy days are up slightly this month from November with 20 foggy days expected. This is 3 more than November but less than the most at 22 days seen in March.
