What's the Weather like in Varadero in November
Rain
The wet season is over and the chance of cyclones has also dropped. November is the start of the hot dry season in Varadero where temperatures are still hot but the rainfall has dropped considerably from last month.
The average rainfall is just 10mm falling over 5 to 7 days. This is a quarter of what fell last month and equals the lowest monthly averages seen in March and April. The rain will fall in short bursts and leave the days fine and sunny and great for time at the beaches and partaking in water activities. The threat of cyclones and hurricanes is over but it could still be windy.
Temperature
Average temperatures have dropped again to 24°C between the average high/low temperatures of 19°C and 28°C. Nights are a lot more comfortable with lower humidity associated with the lower rainfall and the lower temperatures. Average humidity has also dropped to the decreasing rainfall and sits at around 80% but it will often be a lot lower when is has not rained for a few days. Humidity is its lowest between February and May when rainfall is also low and temperatures have cooled slightly.
Sea Temperature
The water is still warm and pleasant to swim in and spend time at the beautiful beach in Varadero. The average sea temperature is 27°C that is only 3 degrees less than the high of 30°C that was seen in August. The sea remains warm due to the closeness to the equator and even at its coolest it is still 24°C.
Sunshine Hours
The average sunshine hours has dropped to 7 this month with the cloud cover due to the rain. It still leaves you fine and dry days to spend time at the beach and exploring this part of Cuba.
Fog
The foggy days are still decreasing with an average of 17 foggy days this month. It will increase slightly next month due to the higher rainfall expected. The number of foggy days will now start to increase each month to the March high of 22 days.

Varadero Beach for November
Karabelas Beach
Varadero is the main beach here but there are a few smaller beaches that are worth searching out. This is the start of the dry season and the weather and water is warm and the local beaches are the places to go. Karabelas Beach is on the eastern end of the Hicacos Peninsula and has white sand and clear blue waters. The Playa Larga and the Playa Giron are on the Bay of Pigs side and if you are on the Zapata Peninsula these 2 beaches are nearby. The Playa Giron is a great place to swim, snorkel and dive from.
Varadero Beach is the main beach and tourist attraction in this area and it stretches for more than 20 kilometres of white sand and clear waters.
Bars and Restaurants
Meson del Quijote
The Meson del Quijote is near the statue of Don Quijote above the Plaza las Americas and serves Cuban and Spanish inspired food. House specialty is a steak and shrimp dish that has a favourite with many tourists. Good service and a pleasant atmosphere go along with the good food and wine including very nice Sangria.
Jesus Restaurant
This little restaurant called Jesus Restaurant, is hidden away in the residential area of Santa Marta in Varadero and is well worth seeking out. Food and service is excellent with live Cuban music playing in the background gives it a good atmosphere. The lobster tails are a favourite as well as the shrimp, chicken and pork dishes.
Things to do in Varadero in November
There are few ways to get around in Varadero and surrounding areas and you can travel by bus or taxi or try something a bit different. The quaint Coco taxis will take you just about anywhere buy why not go for a ride in an old American car such as Chevrolet with Gran Rentals. You can usually find these cars in Havana and in front of the more expensive resorts and hotels. There are horse drawn carriage rides in Varadero and Cárdenas. You can rent a bicycle or scooter from many hotel tour desks or use the Hop on Hop off bus.
Pharmaceutical Museum
For something different take a trip to Matanzas to the Pharmaceutical Museum that has 3 exhibition halls showing the history of the chemist and their trade in Cuba. The display cabinets hold a range of old bottles and containers that would have been used in the past. You are able to buy souvenirs here of glass bottles and such and various spices and herbal treatments. The building is the original pharmacy and drug store in the area and the best in Cuba for a long time. The display cabinets showcase the artefacts in style and the whole building is a glimpse into the history of Cuba.
