What's The Weather Like In Varadero In March

Being close to the equator, Varadero has warm weather all year round ideal for beach activities in the dryer months but the wetter months can see cyclones and hurricanes that shut the beaches and many facilities. 

Rain

March is still in the dry season and is the driest month with just 10mm average rainfall expected to fall over just 5 days this month. Rainfall will not increase til the end of April into May when it will double to 20mm falling over 6 to 7 days. A wet day will not ruin your holiday here as the rain will fall over a short space of time and the rest of the day will see blue skies and sunshine.

Temperature

The average temperature is 23°C, the same as seen in February, between the average high/low temperatures of 17°C and 28°C. The low of 17°C is the lowest for the entire year. Temperatures will slowly rise from now til the highs of 31°C seen between June and September.

Humidity

The average humidity stays low at 75% for the remainder of the dry season before rainfall increases towards June again.

Sea Temperature

Average sea temperature only differs a few degrees throughout the year and the average ocean temperature of 24°C is pleasant for all water activities. The temperature will rise slightly each month towards the August high of 30°C. Sunshine hours have increased to 9 hours a day and these remains stable through the remainder of the dry season and into the start of the wet season.

Fog

Foggy days have increased to 22 this month up 4 from last month and towards the end of the month they will start to decrease slightly to next month's average 20 days.

In the Las Americas is the Sol Palmeras that offers you a variety of rooms and private bungalows. There are junior suites and triple suites that are ideal for large families and groups. For fun at the beach you can try beach volleyball, snorkelling, sailing and kayaking. Several eateries are here including a Cuban Fish Restaurant, Italian, international buffet, grill, pizzeria and a snack bar. Enjoy a cocktail at one of the 6 bars serving a range of wines, beers and spirits.

Royal Hicacos Resort and Spa

The Royal Hicacos Resort and Spa is a luxurious adult's only accommodation sitting on a white sandy beach on the Hicacos Peninsula 35 kilometres from the airport... This is a lovely spot for a honeymoon or a holiday without the kids. Choose from a Junior or Royal Suite all with air conditioning, king sized beds, minibar, coffee maker, umbrella, ceiling fan, and bathrobes and satellite TVs.

Eat at the Buffet restaurant or try the a la carte, grill or cafeteria and have a drink at the swim up bar or Lobby bar. Activities here include salsa lessons, ping pong, aerobics, pedal boats, beach volleyball, snorkelling, kayaking, wind surfing, swimming and basketball.

 

Varadero Beaches For March

Beach Of White Sand

The main reason for people coming to Varadero is the magnificent beach of white sand that stretches for more than 20 kilometres along the north coast of Cuba. In some places the beach is 30 metres wide with calm seas and shallow water perfect for the little kids. Many of the resorts have beach frontage where you can just wander down from your or bungalow and go for a swim. Snorkelling is a fantastic activity to do from the beach as the water is so clear and you can see lots of fish and other marine life and the coral reefs just a few meters from shore in some places.

Coral Beach

Coral Beach is another destination for the snorkeler in water from 1.5 metres to 5 metres in depth depending on the experience of the group. Many resorts will have equipment for you to use and equipment is all inclusive with the snorkelling tours.

Bars And Restaurants

Beatles Bar

The Beatles Bar is a great spot to hear live music from all the rock bands that you love from The Beatles to AC/DC and Guns 'N' Roses. There is no entry fee and a large selection of drinks to choose from. This is partly outdoors so avoid on rainy nights.

La Barbacoa

For all things meat, go to La Barbacoa open from 12 noon to 11pm. Enjoy a large T-bone steak, chateaubriand or sirloin all grilled to perfection. There are also fish, chicken and pork dishes but they are known for their steaks.

El bodegon el gordo

The El bodegon el gordo is open from 12 noon to 10:30 pm serving great Cuban food in a fine dining atmosphere. You can order take away from here and the wine list includes all your favourites from white and red, rum and sparkling.

Things To Do In Varadero In March

House of Rum

For something for the drinker visit the House of Rum, Casa del Ron and taste the varieties made in light and dark rum. Here you will find selections not available in the local stores and bars. The process of rum making will be explained and you can buy a variety of liquors here.

Josone Park

Josone Park was established in 1942 and is a lush tropical park with macaws, palm trees and a manmade lake. You can hire a paddle boat and explore the lake and see the park from a different perspective. Also in the park are 4 restaurants, a bowling alley and shooting grounds. The park is open from 9am to 12 midnight.

Centro Internacional de Paracaidismo

If you are looking for adventure why not try sky diving from the Centro Internacional de Paracaidismo where you take off from the airport and land on Varadero Beach. You can do a tandem jump or if you are qualified a solo jump or you can do a course to become qualified if staying here long enough. You can also go on an ultra light flight over the beaches and see Varadero from the air.
