What's The Weather Like In Varadero In August
Rain
August is the month that you may experience cyclones and hurricanes in this part of the Caribbean. You can expect up to 11 days of rain with an average rainfall of 20mm falling over the month. This could increase towards the end of the month when rainfall increases for the wettest part of the year ending in October.
The increased rainfall and heat means increased humidity and with the possibility of bad weather, particularly near the coastal areas, other activities are recommended if you visit at this time of year. The weather is still warm and you would be unlucky to get stuck in the middle of a cyclone or hurricane.
Temperature
The average temperature has increased again to 27°C that is the highest reached. This temperature will remain until the end of September when it will start to drop slightly towards the end of the year and the dry season. Average high/low temperatures are 22°C and 31°C with night time lows steadily climbing each month to the September high of 23°C.
Humidity
The average humidity will start to rise from 80% at the end of the month to the season high of 85% seen in September and October.
Sea Temperature
August has the highest average sea temperature of 30°C that will start to drop by a degree next month to the yearly low of 24°C seen in February.
Sunshine Hours
Average sunshine hours are up and down due to the tropical storms and this month sees sunshine hours of 8 per day. This may increase towards 9 hours at the end of the month when it goes up to that figure for September.
Fog
As with all the months in Varadero, foggy days persist again with 20 foggy days in August. This will drop slightly from now till the end of the year.

La Casona de Arte
La Casona de Arte is a restaurant and art gallery in one with the walls adorned in paintings and other art. You can have a look at the art while waiting for your meal. It is open from 12 noon to 10:30pm every day serving a range of international dishes such as shrimp cocktail, salads, pork steaks, beef and chicken cordon bleu. All dishes are served with bread and butter, rice and vegetables or salad. The onion soup is a favourite as is the fish platter and paella.

Crucero del Sol: Catamarans And Dolphins
Seeing dolphins is always a great activity for young and old and with Crucero del Sol: catamarans and dolphins you will have a cruise, dolphin encounter, go swimming and snorkelling and have some great seafood. It all starts with a seafood lunch then you have an encounter with a dolphin pod before you go swimming and snorkelling in the beautiful warm waters offshore.
Dolphin Sea Aquarium
If you want the excitement of Swimming with dolphins in Varadero visit the dolphin sea-aquarium located on Varadero Beach at Autopista Sur. Enjoy one of the 3 daily shows and the take the opportunity for a 45 minute swim with these amazing creatures.
Cactus Patriach
In the grounds of one of the resorts in Varadero, Ocean Varadero is the Cactus Patriach, a 500 year old cactus with an extensive root system. This is worth a look if you are in the area.
Tour de Azucar
Sugar cane tour or Tour de Azucar is located 20 kilometres away at Cardenas where you visit the Jose Smith Comas sugar mill. This is a half day excursion where you will learn all about the sugar mill and sugar cane and drink some fresh cane juice known as Guarapo.
Topes de Collantes Overnight
If you want to see the island you can take an overnight trip Topes de Collantes Overnight that runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On a comfy bus you will visit Cienfuegos, the world heritage site, the Palacio Cantero, a museum and the Alfarero Pottery in Trinidad and Santa Clara on the first day and then on day 2 you will go into the mountains in jeeps and walk down a path the Centinelas del Río Melodioso and see local flora and fauna and then go below the waterfall El Rocio and then swim on the pond of the deer.
After lunch at the Casa de la Gallega you will visit the mausoleum of Che Guevara in Santa Clara and then return to Varadero.
