Just north of the equator is the resort of Unawatuna, Sri Lanka. It is located on the southwest tip of the island with the Laccadive Sea on one side and the Bay of Bengal on the other. The area is famous for its white sandy beaches and warm, crystal clear waters. Tourists also visit to enjoy the abundant biodiversity of the area, including the corals, reefs, fish and turtles. More adventurous types scuba dive deep and explore the areaâs sunken shipwrecks.Unawatuna is a holiday hotspot well worth going off the beaten track for.

Climate                                                                                                                                                                            

The island has a hot and humid tropical climate. The islandâs weather is determined by the strong weather patterns dominated by two monsoon seasons.
