Tunis in Tunisia is a holiday destination that is fast growing in popularity and it's easy to see why. Benefitting from a prime location, wonderful weather and some fantastic hotels to choose from, Tunis is a vibrant and diverse city with a lot to offer.

Budget

Considered one of the best budget hotels in Tunis by Trip Advisor, the Grand Hotel de France is affordable and comfy. The hotel only has 12 rooms so they fill up hastily and the hotel is relatively quiet compared to other budget options. There is a breakfast provided to each guest in the morning.

The Hotel Belvedere Fourati has an appealing range of amenities for a great price. With the budget cost, guests can take advantage of free high-speed internet, free breakfast and an easy to find location in the city. The staff speaks French more readily than English, due in part to the region's French heritage, so best brush up on your French!

Popular with families and solo tourists alike, the Golden Tulip El Mechtel is an appealing budget choice. This hotel sits adjacent to the Tunis Zoo, so it has some very unique views to say the least. If you have a room facing the zoo, you may hear some interesting noises during the night. Otherwise, this hotel has features including free high-speed internet and meals from the in-house restaurant.

The Hotel Excel has a sizable amount of rooms so it is largely available throughout the year. This hotel is ideal for travellers who want to spend their holiday discovering the region. There is a complimentary breakfast for each guest and the majority of rooms have balconies overlooking the streets of Tunis.

Also located downtown, the Hotel Les Ambassadeurs is another hotel option to save money for the rest of your holiday budget. There are usually online promotions to save even more money on your stay. The hotel is perfect for those travellers who won't spend the holiday in their hotel room but rather outdoors exploring the area.

Another option for the travellers on the go is the Hotel Salammbo. It is handily situated on a significant thoroughfare in Tunis and near many local attractions and shops. This hotel does not have an elevator in it. If you will be travelling with a generous amount of luggage or with mobility constraints, requesting a room on a low floor is suggested.

The Hotel Acropole is a popular budget hotel outside the city of Tunis. This cosy hotel has a great number of rooms and quick access to the local Lake of Tunis, a peaceful lake that is a suitable alternative to the Mediterranean beaches.

The Yadish Ibn Khaldoun is a sparkling and organised accommodation. Just a quick jaunt from the downtown area and the airport, this hotel has professional employees and very helpful management. Many of the staff speak Arabic and French and the owners are fluent in English.

The rooms have been recently renovated as well.

The Hotel Solymar will give you a sense of authentic Tunisian living without the price tag of a boutique hotel. Located between Tunis and Hammamet, this hotel is great for discovering the region and getting the best of both areas. The accommodations are comfortable and you can save money on this hotel but that money would need to go towards transportation.

The Hotel Venus has mixed reviews but offers a range of amenities for a budget price. The rooms in this large hotel vary in how recently they were renovated so some are much more modern than others. The newest ones are located on the first floor near the hotel bar which means that they also have the most noise. If you are willing to compromise on noise, or are a heavy sleeper, the newest rooms will be perfect.
