Weather lowdown

Tulum essentially has two seasonshe dry season goes from November to May and the wet season begins in June and ends in October. Even with the increased rain chances this month, it's still a great time to visit the resort that's part of the Riviera Maya. Many people flock to the beautiful beaches and the historic and mystic ruins this time of the year. The average daily temperature this month is 28°C (about 82°F). With the higher rainfall, the humidity increases, but is mostly dissipated by the sea breezes.

Compared to May, which sees around 108 mm, the rainfall amounts this month jump up to 187 mm. The rain falls over 12 days in the month, so bring along the umbrella in case you encounter rainy days during your holiday. Thunderstorms are a possibility this time of the year, but fortunately any storms are short-lived and pass through quickly. The chance of rain on any given day is 20 percent.

At night, the lows drop down to 24°C (about 75°F), so it can still feel pretty steamy, even overnight. Thankfully, most hotels have air conditioning to keep you comfortable. In the heat of the day, the temperature jumps up to 31°C (around 88°F). Bring along your swimsuit as you'll want to take advantage of the warm sea water. It averages 28°C (about 82°F) this time of the year. You'll also want to soak in every hour of daylight, which averages about seven hours each day.

The highest recorded temperature for this part of the Yucatan Peninsula reached a balmy 36°C (about 97°F). The lowest recorded temperature dropped down to a still pleasant 21°C (around 70°F), although, you'll most likely not have to contend with such extreme highs and lows during your stay.
