What's the weather like in Torremolinos in April
By April, spring is in full swing and the weather is primarily warm, mild and sunny. In fact, the climate in Torremolinos and the other seaside towns on the Costa del Sol in the south of Spain is quite enjoyable all-year round. It never rains too much and temperatures are generally comfortable. April marks the beginning of the warmer part of the year and the first sun-seekers may even start to arrive already.
Temperature
April sees the temperatures warm up. In general, this month is one degree warmer than the previous month of March. The average temperature is 16°C. At night, the mercury drops to an average low of 11°C, which is a temperature that is gradually becoming more and more comfortable as the weather makes its way toward the summer season. Afternoon temperatures are delightful, averaging 21°C. Both these average low and high temperatures increase in the course of the month, respectively from 10°C to 12°C and from 20°C to 22°C.
Average Sea Temperature
After ranging around 16°C, the annual minimum, for three months, the sea temperature finally also begins to rise. The Mediterranean Sea around Torremolinos is 17°C warm in April, which is comparable to the sea temperature in December, which is by no means warm enough for swimming (yet).
Daylight Hours
As it has been doing for three months now, the length of the days continues to increase throughout April. The shortest day of the month is April 1, which has 12.37 hours of daylight. At the end of the month, the number of daylight hours increases to 13.40. This increase of 1.03 hours implies that each day in April is 2.1 longer than the day before.
Cloud Cover
Another something that has been virtually constant for several months, but that begins to change in April is cloud cover. After being above 41% since November, the percentage of cloud cover finally drops to 40% in April. While this might not seem like a huge improvementnd it isn'tt does indicate that the clouds have begun making way for the extremely sunny weather that will follow in the coming months.
Average Sunshine Hours
Already there are 10 beautiful hours of sunshine in April, which is much more than in more northerly region in Europe. With this many sunshine hours to enjoy, this is a great time of year for outdoor pursuits. And that number will only continue to increase in the next few months.
Rain
April sees a significant drop in rainfall totals compared with the month(s) before. While March received 61mm of precipitation in total, April gets only 36mm, which is spread out over 7 days with precipitation. This makes it the fifth driest month of the entire year, after the following months of May, June, July and August. In May, there will be another huge drop in the total amount of rainfall. The chance that rainfall occurs averages 26% in Aprilt ranges between 28% in the beginning of the month and 25% at the end.
While this also may not seem like a big change, it does, again, show that the weather is moving away from the wetter winter season. The most common type of rainfall this time of year is moderate rain, which is observed on 44% of the days with rainfall. Light rain comes in second, being recorded on 23% of those days. Thunderstorms and drizzle happen on 16% and 12% of the rainy days respectively.
