With the weather steadily warming up in April and the sun shining for 12 hours each day there are lots of outdoors activities to be had in Thessaloniki. The temperature typically floats around a comfy 14-15 degrees Celsius with daytime highs rising up to about 20; perfect for a stroll down the port!
The old port is scenic, quiet and home to some fantastic bars and restaurants including the nationally renowned Kitchen Bar. Kitchen Bar is, as its name implies, both a quality restaurant and a relaxed bar. With affordable prices and top-notch quality, Kitchen Bar is a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike and is best enjoyed in the spring months.
For those after nightlife, the old port hosts a number of nightclubs and more can be found directly above the port, in the old Ladadika. The Ladadika used to be an old marketplace where olive oil was traded for the port. Now it has transformed into a primetime entertainment hub with numerous nightclub and Greek-style entertainment options. The multi-purpose café-bar-club Sarothron is a spot of interest there, with plenty to do and see every hour of the day.
Also in April, Aristotelous square starts brimming with artists and every day some other event is happening there. From music festivals and folk dance events, to BBQ and free yoga classes, there is something for everyone in Aristotelous which is at walking distance from the old port.
For those who wish to explore the outdoors, bus trips to Mount Hortiatis are an easy way to see nature in her best. Buses that go to Hortiatis start from just above the old port and can get you to the mountain in about an hour.
