Preparation for the Carnival Season starts this month and will end until the last weekend before Lent, also known as "Clean Monday".
Carnival Season means red wine concessions, lots of food, and lots of dancing. As you can imagine, there's lots of fun to be had!
A lot of towns in Thassos commemorate Carnival in a conventional way especially in Potamia village, where there is a grand parade.
Tourists can do some hiking and mountain climbing as most of the mountain spots will be accessible but they may not be as lively as in the summer months.
Fishing
and sailing
on the coasts is desirable. It is recommended that visitors try having lunch or
an early dinner on a yacht or boat with friends for a unique experience that
provides a different view than what could be seen in the city itself.
