Tenerife South Beach for April
The pleasant spring weather is a great time to be at the beach whether you are swimming, sunbathing or walking along the promenades. The ocean is warming up to 20°C towards the summer high of 23°C. A great way to experience marine life is to do a scuba diving tour. Medano Dive organises tours in the south of Tenerife you can join for the change to scuba dive next to wild local turtles.
Most popular beaches are located in the Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos areas but there are many smaller beaches you can visit such as El Puertito. This is a small and still traditional fishing hamlet with a small beach that is protected from wild waves. The sloping beach at Playa Grande has cream coloured sand in a small cove ideal for a quiet swim.
For the naturist Tenerife South has a few nudist beaches and one is at Playa la Tejita that is in a secluded area with nothing much around it. This is not a developed area so bring your own food and drink for the day. Nudity is not mandatory but expect to see naked bodies.
Bars and Restaurants
April is still in the off-peak season and the weather is warming up here but there will still be lots of eateries and bars open for you to enjoy. The coastal community of El Medano has a selection of cafes and restaurants overlooking the beaches.
