Temperature
April in Tenerife South sees the area begin to re-open in time for the summer season. More and more hotels open their doors and many tourist attractions that have remained closed all winter start up again. Tourists begin to flock to the island as daytime temperatures reach a very pleasant high of 22°C (72°F) and only fall to around 16°C (61°F) at night
Spring in Tenerife South during April is pleasant with a day time highs reaching 23°C with an average of 20°C. This is compared to the hottest months with highs around 27°C seen in August. Night time will see the temperature drop to a still pleasant 16°C. Median highs and lows are slowly increasing with consistent highs of 21°C at the end of the month.

Sunshine hours stretch to 11 and just short of the summer high of 12. You can expect just 2 days this month to have rainfall and then it will only be an average of a low 22mm spread over the 2 days. The heaviest will be a light rain or a drizzle on those particular days.

The ocean temperatureis still a cool 20°C and is heading towards the summer high of 23°C though day time temperatures are pleasant for relaxing and sunbathing on the beach.
Tenerife South Hotels in April
If you are at Arico a great place to stay is the Ecovilla Club that has some good reviews on trip advisor. While here you can go swimming, walking, eat at the restaurant and the place is pet friendly so if the kids want to take the family pet you can. Enjoy the room service after a busy day exploring and there is free parking if you have hired a car.
The Sol Sun Beach Apartments are a budget priced accommodation at Fanabe Beach on the Costa Adeje with a full kitchen and bathroom. All apartments and studios have sea views and are cleaned daily with towels and sheets changed during the week. It is a great family location as it close to many activities for the whole family. The gardens are tropical with a large sun terrace and outdoor pool. The restaurant here offers international and themed buffet meals using seasonal fruit and vegetables. For the golf lover another great place to stay is the Compostela Beach Golf Club II Apartments located at the Playa de las Americas. With a supermarket, games room and solarium everything is close to hand. There is a playground here for the children and 24 hour reception, buffet restaurant with breakfast, lunches and dinners available on the terrace. The Pool Bar and Salon bar offer you sharing platters to enjoy by the pool.
Tenerife South Beach for April
The pleasant spring weather is a great time to be at the beach whether you are swimming, sunbathing or walking along the promenades. The ocean is warming up to 20°C towards the summer high of 23°C. A great way to experience marine life is to do a scuba diving tour. The Scuba Diving Baptism with Turtles is one for the novice diver going down to just 10 metres and swimming with the local turtles.
Most popular beaches are located in the Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos areas but there are many smaller beaches you can visit such as El Puertito. This is a small and still traditional fishing hamlet with a small beach that is protected from wild waves. The sloping beach at Playa Grande has cream coloured sand in a small cove ideal for a quiet swim.
For the naturist Tenerife South has a few nudist beaches and one is at Playa la Tejita that is in a secluded area with nothing much around it. This is not a developed area so bring your own food and drink for the day. Nudity is not mandatory but expect to see naked bodies.
Bars and Restaurants
April is still in the off-peak season and the weather is warming up here but there will still be lots of eateries and bars open for you to enjoy. The coastal community of El Medano has a selection of cafes and restaurants overlooking the beaches.
For local Spanish fare try the Royal garden Restaurant or the El Cedro at Playa de las Americas. The BBQ lover should visit Restaurante Gran Reserva and for Tapas try the Restaurante Playasol.
The Costa del Silencio has many fine places to eat including the Harvester Café Bistro that is open Sunday to Friday for English and International meals made from fresh local produce.
Things to do in Tenerife South in April
The Bodegas Monje winery in Tenerife is a must for the wine lover to try local wine and cheeses. There are great views of the area from the winery and you can choose a tour with wine tasting, browse the cellar and choose some locally made jams and preserves. The winery was started in 1956 and went through a modernisation refit in 1983 but many of the age old traditions are carried out to produce the best red wines that are aged barrels of old oak.
For flower and garden lovers the orchids at Sitio Litre should be coming into flower in spring and summer. The gardens here are the oldest in the area being established in 1730. This is in Tenerife North but well worth a visit while you are here. Also worth a visit is to the Cactus Park at Loro Parque as they will be coming into flower too.
More for the nature lover is a walking trek through Arico where you will see unique geological formations and native flora that will also be blooming in spring and summer.
