What's the weather like in Tenerife in October?
While not a noticeable difference, October can be a time for change in and around Tenerife North. It is during this time of the year that temperatures both on land and sea begin to cool off just slightly and the amount of rain begins to tick upward yet again. However, the region can still be a terrific place to visit at this time of the year.
Sea Temperature
Despite ocean temperatures getting cooler in the Atlantic Ocean, it is still possible to swim during the month. Average sea temperatures are down to 22°C (72°F), however, this is still pleasant enough for a long swim.
Temperature
On land, temperatures this month are also headed downward, but visitors will still be comfortable without a light jacket both in the daylight and at night. Average afternoon highs can reach 26°C (79°F). While this temperature is several degrees lower than the hottest temperatures of the year in August, they are still warm enough for shorts and short sleeves. Average overnight lows will dip to a pleasant 20°C (68 F). The average temperature of both the afternoon highs and overnight lows on a daily basis for the month is 23°C (73°F) which is very mild for autumn.
Rain
Rainfall amounts begin to pick up again as the seasons begin to change. With this change, can also come some brief, heavy downpours. The average amount of rain for the month is a manageable 20mm spread over an average of 5 days. Sunlight is also still present with most days seeing an average of 8 hours of basking sun.
With pleasant weather conditions and mainly dry days, late summer/early fall is still a great time to plan a vacation to the northern part of the island. In fact, as weather begins to turn more unpredictable in mainland Spain at this time of the year, the weather is still remarkably consistent on Tenerife.
