What's the weather like in Tenerife in February?
Winter in Tenerife North can be nothing short of fantastic when compared to many other European locations; even mainland Spain. While it helps that the location is an island, the weather is certainly inviting to a winter getaway.
Rain
Compared to January, conditions in February are a little drier. The region receives only 30mm of precipitation during the month and with warm temperatures well above freezing, there is no chance for it to turn to snow. Overall, there are only 5 days of the month when rainfall may occur compared to 7 the month before.
Temperature
A light jacket is still needed, especially during the evening and early morning hours when average overnight lows will dip to 15°C (59°F). However, despite the winter month, average afternoon highs will be very pleasant with temperatures topping out near 21°C (70°F). The average temperature throughout the day is a mild 18°C (64°F) which makes for lovely winter days.
Sea Temperature
Despite the pleasant afternoon conditions, the water surrounding the island is still too cool to go for a dip. Average water temperatures during this time of the year are only 15°C (59°F).
Sunshine Hours
With very limited rain chances and only 5 days of rain throughout the month, visitors can expect to see a lot of sun on the island. On average, the northern half of the island receives an impressive 8 hours of sunlight per day in February. This equates to plenty of time to enjoy outdoor activities while on vacation.
While temperatures will not vary greatly during a vacation, it is still a good idea to see what the live forecast predicts.
In all, Tenerife makes for a terrific getaway location, especially if one is looking to escape the typical cold winters of continental Europe.
