Holiday in Taba - Sol y Mar Sea Star
Review by: Ann
Weather
It was extremely hot for the time of year. 30 degrees plus most days. This was 17 Nov to 1 Dec 2009.
Just 2 days with cloud and 1 of those with 'rain' if you could call it that. No one even looked for shelter from it.Holiday
This is the 3rd time at The Sol y Mar Sea Star, the first on my own.
Everytime we have visited the staff and animation team have been exceptional. Constantly checking that things are ok and if there are any problems are dealt with within an hour. The staff are friendly, and go out of their way to make sure you have the best holiday possible.
There are 2 pool/beach attendants (Fekry and Ash) who have all the time for the children. They will also ensure that if there is a certain place you like to sit, that your towels are there ready and waiting in your chosen spot each day.
Reda who works behind the bar on the Beach is great fun if you take the time to get to know him. One of the most genuine people you can meet.
This is a holiday for rest and relaxation only. There are no big shopping area's, and disco's. The hotel is self contained and the nearest place for anything else is Taba Heights.
If you are looking for a quiet holiday, with no hassle, I would recommend the Sol Y Mar Sea Star.
The only problem is that it is booked through Thomsons and they have a tendancy to say it is close to being fully booked, in order to get as much money as possible out of you, but when arrived in November 2009 I found that the hotel had only 50 rooms occupied. Not a good policy on Thomson's part and I have now found an alternative way to book.
Most people at the hotel had been going there for many years and were already planning their return visit for this year, as with myself and family, who are returning in May for 2 weeks.Recommend Taba to others?
Yes
