Australian Museum

Occupying a magnificent spot within Sydney Harbour, the island is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and operated as a facility for convicts who had re-offended on arrival in Sydney. The island can easily be reached from the city centre by ferry and entry is free. 

Paddy's Markets

If you're beset with an overcast or damp day in Sydney, then pop over to Paddy's Markets, which comprise two large commercial spaces in Haymarket and Flemington. These busy markets thrive throughout the week and offer an authentic feel for Sydney life, where visitors can buy anything from groceries to clothes, antiques and souvenirs.
