Sunny Beach is the largest and most popular seaside resort in Bulgaria. Located on the Black Sea coast, 35km north of the coastal city of Bourgas, its 8km golden sand beach attracts thousands of tourists each year from all over the world.
There are a wide range of eateries found in the center of Sunny Beach and close to many of the main hotels. Sunny Beach has all you could ask for and is a great place to enjoy some delicious food whilst watching the sunset over the Black Sea coast! Whether you want to try some authentic Bulgarian yoghurt, freshly caught seafood or would rather tuck into some pub grub you would find back home, Sunny Beach has it covered.
Eastern European
Whilst you are staying at Sunny Beach it is highly recommended to try some of the local food on offer. Bulgaria is well known for its delicious cuisine including 'Banista' (a filo pastry layered between white cheese) this is usually accompanied with a yogurt-based drink. 'Kiselo Mlyako' is very popular in Bulgaria and is known as the best yogurt in the world! 'Kebabs' are also a common dish found in this country and so is 'Moussaka' which is often mistaken for being Greek. This is made with potatoes, tomatoes, ground meat and a white sauce is layered on top before it is baked. So it is definitely worth trying one of the many Bulgarian restaurants dotted around Sunny Beach!
Next to the Bravo 5 Apartments in Sunny Beach you will find the Marco Polo Bistro. This popular restaurant offers anything from Italian Carbonara to Bulgarian Chicken Kavarma.
A favourite with the locals is the Iris restaurant by the main bus stop in Sunny Beach, which serves traditional Bulgarian cuisine such as Pork Sashlike and Kavarma for a cheap price!
You may want to get to Djanyy quite early because it is a very popular restaurant due to its excellent food and service. It is recommended to try the 'Tarator' a delicious Bulgarian cold cucumber soup. However, if you're staying at the Barcelo Hotel, look out for the Eagle restaurant, which is nearby. Not only does this place offer authentic Bulgarian cuisine but they also make a very good English breakfast.
Steakhouse
Meat eaters will feel at home in Sunny Beach because there are loads of steak houses to choose from in the area.
Head over to the main promenade for a delicious meal at the Hawaii Restaurant and Bar. This quirky restaurant offers anything from succulent pork loin steaks to chicken skewers. If you decide to eat here in the evening there are also live music performances and karaoke shows to keep the whole family entertained. Another option to think of is 100% Family Restaurant located next to The Meridian Hotel. Tuck into some fillet steak here or some traditional fish and chips with mushy peas.
Or why not try the Jupiter Steak House on Flower Street for a garlic steak or some lamb skewers. This is a perfect restaurant for a family getaway, as there's lots of live music and entertainment for all ages! Another place to eat al fresco is at Bistro-Garden Condor on the Main Road next to the Post Office. Not only can you feast on many varieties of steak here, it is also recommended to try the grilled trout! For some reasonably priced food head to The Old House located next to Tiara Beach Hotel and dive into some classic grilled meats or try the traditional Bulgarian 'Shopska' a salad made up of tomatoes, onions, peppers, parsley and 'sirene' (a white brine cheese).
International
Whether you want some Italian pizza or some fish and chips just like you get from back home, Sunny Beach has it covered!
The stylish Bolero Bar-Pizza-Restaurant in the center of Sunny Beach offers tantalising gourmet cuisine such as tiger shrimp with spices and coated squids with a variety of dips. Set in the rolling hills overlooking the rest of Sunny beach and Old Nessebar is Hanska Shatra. This popular restaurant serves food from across the globe and puts on a cabaret show including mesmerizing acts such as Bendy Wendy and jugglers.
Morris is situated opposite Hotel Neptun and offers a variety of dishes from all over the world including traditional Mexican and Indian cuisines, and also a choice of succulent steaks and skewers to choose from. Another restaurant to think of for cheap and tasty food is at Far - A. The kids will love this place because there's plenty of food, even for the pickiest of eaters including pizzas and a range of chicken dishes. Or if you want somewhere that offers karaoke nights look no further than The Fat Cat on the promenade. This quirky restaurant serves full Scottish breakfasts and non-alcoholic cocktails for children.
Asian
There are a few Asian restaurants in Sunny Beach offering anything from a spicy Korma to Japanese Sushi.
If you're a fan of Indian cuisine then go to Mind the Step and try some of the traditional dishes including Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka Massala and Madras. Another option to think of is the Bombay Grill located in the center of Sunny Beach. This delightful restaurant offers fresh Indian cuisine such as Chicken Korma and Lamb Vindaloo.
However, if that's not enough to whet your appetite then head to Golden Jade Nesebar in Ulitsa Zornitsa, Sunny Beach for some authentic Chinese cuisine. Try anything from sweet and sour chicken to stir fry here. Or there's the China House, which serves sizzling beef and mouth watering lemon chicken.
