Sunny Beach is the largest and most popular seaside resort in Bulgaria. Located on the Black Sea coast, 35km north of the coastal city of Bourgas, its 8km golden sand beach attracts thousands of tourists each year from all over the world.
The beach is shaped like a wide semi-circular bay and reaches 30-60m in width, so there's plenty of space for parasols and towels. On average the sea temperatures at Sunny Beach can reach 20-26°C so it is positively warm! Sunny Beach has also been awarded the Blue Flag eco-label for its clean beach and waters. The resort is also noted for its well-formed sand dunes and 16 rare plant species.
The sea is safe and calm so it is perfect for the little ones to have a paddle. This also makes perfect conditions for water sports including waterskiing, parasailing, windsurfing and yachting.
Parasols and sun beds are available for hire at certain points in Sunny Beach as well as dressing rooms, showers and toilet facilities. Some hotels also own a private stretch of beach including the Evrika Beach Club Hotel, where they provide free parasols and beds for guests only. However, if you would rather not pay, head over to the 'galleon ship' on the way to Nessebar, this area is a lot more secluded and you can rest here with a towel for free.
Cacao Beach
Cacao Beach can be found bordering the ancient town of Nessebar. This area houses the famous Cacao Beach Club, which at night becomes a nightclub and at day turns into a seaside café and contemporary bar.
This world-renowned club has seen many famous faces perform here including Dutch producers Armin Van Buuren and Tiesto. Also, it has become the starting block for many Bulgarian DJs to launch their professional careers.
