What's the Weather Like in Sunny Beach in February

February is officially the month when cupid visits Sunny Beach, yet still clearly in the grips of winter you won't see major crowds perfect for a romantic visit for two! The surrounding countryside is ideal for a walk in peace and quiet, and a reliable public transport network means getting out and about is easy.

Temperature

An average February temperature of around 4°C will greet visitors during this time of year, reaching a high of 8°C, and a low of 0°C, so certainly remember that jacket again.

Sunshine and Rain

Despite the chilly temperatures, Sunny Beach still racks up an average of 6 hours of sun per day, making that aforementioned exploration a great idea, however with any month during the year, remember that rain is always possible in this part of Bulgariarainfall in February averages at around 43mm, affecting 6 days throughout the month remember your umbrella and any downpour shouldn't disrupt your day too much.

Sea Temperature

Water-sports and beach time isn't really to be recommended during February, or indeed until around May, as the Black Sea doesn't warm up until the tourist season hits full swing. You can expect a February average sea temperature of only 9°C, so perhaps stick to land-based activities at this time!

Rainbow 2 Cacao Beach Apartments

If you prefer to stay somewhere a little more home away from home then Rainbow 2 Cacao Beach Apartments are for you. Self-catering is often preferred by many, allowing you to get out and about a little more, and here you find flat screen TVs and internet to make your stay more comfortable.

Alternatively, Rainbow 3 is another self-catering option, with a luxurious feel on a budget, and a stone's throw from the beach.

Beaches for February for Sunny Beach

Golden Sands Beach

In-keeping with February's romantic vibe, a deserted beach is the ideal place to head for solace and serenity. The lower temperatures during this time of year make for the perfect excuse to get out and explore, and jumping on the local bus to Golden Sands Beach, aka Zlatni Pyasatci Beach, is a great way to spend the day.

This is a very popular beach during the summer months, however it is popular with locals out of season too. The hot mineral springs make for a relaxing day, and you could head over to Varna when you've finished, which is only 17km away.

Restaurants and Bars for Sunny Beach in February

During the quieter months you may be tempted to head off to the nearby cities to enjoy a spot of bright nightlife whilst Sunny Beach sleeps, and in that case you will find much entertainment in nearby Bourgas. Here you will find a casino and plenty of restaurants to try. Alternatively, your hotel for the winter months will almost always have a restaurant or two on-site, meaning you can kick back and relax of an evening, without having to venture too far.

Ca D'Oro

Ca D'Oro is a great place to head whilst in Sunny Beach however, with a chilled-out vibe and live music to enjoy. The food is typically international, so there is something for all tastes.

Things to Do in Sunny Beach in February

Because Sunny Beach is a purpose-built holiday resort, there is little to really do during the off months of season, however that doesn't meant that you can't use it as a base and venture further out and explore the stunning Bulgarian countryside and regions around the resort.

Varna Necropolis

Varna is the largest city in the Black Sea region, and the third largest city in the whole of Bulgaria, and is certainly worth jumping on the bus to explore. Whilst this is also a tourist region, there is a little more open during this time of the year, and for anyone interested in history then Varna Necropolis is a must visit.

This site holds artefacts dating back as far as 4200BC and produced the oldest golden treasure in the world certainly somewhere to put on your hit list! Varna itself is also a very picturesque city and walking around during the cooler temperatures is a great way to spend a few hours.

Balchik

Just beyond the city you'll find the quaint seaside town of Balchik, which is home to a royal palace and botannical gardens. This is a great place to explore when the weather permits, and offers an insight into the country's heritage.

Day Trips Bulgaria

We mentioned the area around Sunny Beach as being particularly breath-taking, and the Black Sea Coast should certainly be explored out of season. You may need to spend a couple of days out of resort to truly get into the crux of what you're seeing, but you can contact tour companies who will help organise bespoke tours for you too, such as Day Trips Bulgaria, who offer excursions to areas such as the stunning Seven Rila Lakes and Rila Mountain.

Using the off season as the time to explore is certainly the way forward.
