St. Thomas Weather in December, U.S. Virgin Islands

Slide and Tap Other Months

December festivities, as one might assume, are Christmas-related, but they are not saturated in the religious aspect of the holiday.

In St. Thomas, the Miracle on Main Street celebration is a mixture of a traditional Christmas spectacular mixed with a tropical attitude. It is a lit, seaside parade that is beautiful from the streets and from boats docked just off the coast as well. The parade is short but exhilarating, ending in Emancipation Park. At this time, stores extend their hours, vendors open temporarily right on the street, and there is lots of music.

Visitors should take advantage of the beautiful weather by taking a walking tour of the city's sights. They can also tour by taxi. This type of tour is extremely popular because it offers a little of everything within one trip, including popular sites, scenic views, shopping, and time at the beach.

Islander Taxi Service Inc. and Flamon's Taxi and Island Tours are two examples of the several companies that offer these services. Finally, the more adventurous can take to the air with helicopter tours that last from 20-60 minutes and fly over the entire island, pointing out important landmarks along the way.

If you don't mind island hopping, you should go over to the nearby island of St. John during December in order to witness the Carnival celebration going on there.

The average temperature for December is perfect for any tourist activities, with an average low of 73°F (23°C) and an average high of 86°F (30°C).
