St. Thomas Weather in April, U.S. Virgin Islands

Slide and Tap Other Months

In April and May, St. Thomas sees its most popular event of the year: Carnival. It is celebrated in slightly different ways on St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John, which are all nestled close together in the paradisiacal United States Virgin Islands.

Carnival is a time of the celebration of freedom that presents itself in music and dancing, which can be seen in the ceremonial parades and processions. The city more or less shuts down in the months prior to Carnival in order to prepare decorations and costumes. There is a great deal of gaiety and singing in the streets. Ethnic food and drinks are offered from street vendors, as are local crafts. Nightly concerts are a way to end almost every day during Carnival.

April tourists will also enjoy shopping in every venue from souvenir shops aimed directly at tourists to the higher-end shopping establishments such as the Marina at Yacht Haven Grande.

Additionally, April is the time of year when St. Thomas hosts one of its many walk/run competitions of varying length and difficulty levels. This one is called, cleverly, Run for Cover.
