June may very well be the best month to visit St. Martin even though it's right in the middle of the summer. More people tend to visit the half Dutch, half French island in the winter months than do in the summer months. Anytime is a good time to visit the Caribbean though, as the weather is generally remarkable the whole year round.

The daytime high temperature average for the month of June is going to be around 29°C (85°F) making it perfect beach weather which is fortunate since St. Martin is home to some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world.

The nightly low temperature average is 25°C (77°F) which in and of itself is just about as good as weather anywhere can get.

Precipitation is mild in June and on average there is only about 51mm or 2 inches of rain recorded. There will be anywhere from 10 to 11 hours of sunshine each and every day in the month of June.

Activities on the island include all of the traditional water recreation such as snorkelling and diving but there are also so some more non-traditional water sports, as well. Kite surfing has become a pretty big deal on St. Martin as has windsurfing and wake boarding. The steady winds on the island make these new sports possible. Surfing is also relatively popular and there are several surfing 'schools' that can teach the basics and provide rental boards for the day.

Another activity for the adventurous is to take a ride in a submersible, semi-submarine boat called the Seaworld Explorer. It operates tours in selected areas of the reefs surrounding the island and gives visitors a chance to view marine life up close without actually having to be in the water.

This is a great trip for younger kids or older adults who are unable to snorkel or dive. Photographers will also find that they can get some really great shots through the glass bottom of the boat.

The Turquoise Shell Inn on Simpson Bay is a small (only 10 rooms) resort hotel that offers guests all the comforts of home with the splendour and beauty of the beach close at hand. The rooms are well appointed and include a kitchenette for cooking, very comfortable bed, modern bathroom facilities and free high-speed internet. Most people say that it's more like a small apartment than a hotel room. The location couldn't be more perfect as the beach is literally steps away from one's room and there are plenty of restaurants, pubs and bars, a grocery store and much more within walking distance. This is a definite possibility for holiday travellers looking for a decent place to stay at a reasonable price.
