December is really busy on St. Martin and the beaches can get really crowded, especially from the middle of the month until the end of the year. It's the best time to take a tour boat cruise to some of the more isolated beaches and diving spots on the island. There are lots of private charter boats operating on St. Martin and it shouldn't be a problem finding one for a half day cruise or even a full day cruise.

Also, there are a number of good places to go hiking and check out the wildlife living on the island. Visitors can ask around for the best spots to go hiking or they can hire a local guide to show them around the island.

Another great activity, especially for tennis lovers, is the American Tennis Academy where guests can learn how to play tennis from professionals or just get tips to improve their game. The facilities and courts are top notch and the fees are reasonable.

L'Esperance Hotel in Cay Hill is perhaps one of the nicest best kept secrets of St. Martin. With its landscaped gardens and picturesque views, L'Esperance is in a class by itself. A total of 22 air conditioned suites await guests. Suites are equipped with fully stocked kitchenettes, cable television, and high-speed internet.

There are a number of local markets nearby so that guests can make use of the kitchenette facilities. The swimming pool is for guest use only and there is a good sized lounge and bar for guests to enjoy. A great place to stay of one is on a budget but doesn't want to sacrifice comfort.
