The period from August through December is the busiest tourist time of the year in St. Martin, a beautiful Caribbean island in the northern part of the Caribbean. It's unique in that it is jointly governed by the French and Dutch governments. It makes for a very interesting experience for visitors taking a holiday there.
The high temperature for the month is going to be around 31°C (88°F) with plenty of sunshine to make the beaches extremely enjoyable.
The night time low temperature will be right at about 25°C (77°F). No need for coats or long pants in this kind of weather!
August's precipitation averages out at 100mm or 4 inches of rain scattered throughout the month.
Visitors can expect to have 12 to 13 hours of sunshine each and every day in August.
Visitors to St. Martin that have kids will definitely want to check out Loterie Farm which isn't really a farm but more of an eco-tour on a nature reserve in the rainforest. There's plenty to do including hiking and the 'FlyZone', which is a series of obstacle courses with elevated zip lines that both kids and adults will have a blast on.
There is the opportunity to get some seriously cool pictures here! Loterie Farm also has a natural spring-fed pool for relaxing and there are several restaurants including the Tree Lounge and The Hidden Forest Café that offer visitors a good lunch or dinner while there.
For visitors looking for a little relaxation, the Seaside Nature Park offers up horseback riding along the beach or through inland trails. Perfect for beginners and experts alike, Seaside gives riders a number of choices ranging from 30 minute rides to half day rides. Visitors can even take some of the horses into the water for a bit of a swim! They have nearly 50 horses, so there's no need to make a reservation, just show up.
The Sea Palace Hotel in Phillipsburg is an ideal spot for travellers who aren't searching for the Four Seasons and don't mind an older hotel. For the price, which is very reasonable, guests can expect a hotel that is on the beach front right in the middle of town. Everything is within easy walking distance including restaurants, bars and pubs, shops and anything else of interest.
Some rooms are equipped with a balcony and hot tub facing the ocean while others are standard hotel fare. They do have a kitchenette so making a cup of tea or fixing a light meal isn't a problem. The restaurant serves decent food and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.
