April is nice and balmy making trips to the beach absolutely to die for. The water is clear and blue and the sand is white and clean. That's the main reason many people come to St. Martin to begin with.

Visitors should check out Pinel Island, a short ferry ride from the French side of the island. There are several restaurants, bars and services on the island making is a perfect spot to get away from the maddening crowds on the main beaches. Visitors can even rent kayaks and standing paddle boats for a more adventurous way to reach Pinel. The snorkelling is reputed to be the best on St. Martin, as well.

The Butterfly Farm (La Ferme des Papillons) is a great spot to visit with kids and is just what the name implies, a place to see some beautiful and even rare and exotic butterflies. The one time admission fee allows visitors to return as often as they like for the duration of their stay in St. Martin. It's a really great opportunity to learn some interesting facts and get some lovely pictures.

The Pasanggrahan Royal Guesthouse, on the Dutch side of the island in Phillipsburg, is an exceptional value for the money. It's a bit small so the service is better than some of the other larger hotels on the island. Many of the rooms are overlooking the beach and have balconies with tables. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and also a restaurant providing room service. Of course, there are other restaurants and bars nearby, as well but many guests have complimented the hotel's food so it's worth giving it a try at least once.
