Weather Lowdown
One of the two islands that comprise St. Kitts and Nevis, one of the small island countries that dot the tropical Caribbean Sea, St. Kitts is an extraordinary destination for a beach holiday. Tourists can soak up the Caribbean sunshine and enjoy complete relaxation pretty much all-year round.
If you are looking for a quiet, yet sunny and warm beach vacation in April, St. Kitts is where you want to be. This quiet month falls within the dry season and is one of the shoulder monthsess touristy and therefore a bit cheaper, but still boasting downright spectacular weather.
In April, there are 9 hours of sunshine per day on average, which is more than enough to hit the beach every single day. In fact, this is pretty much how sunny the days are throughout the entire year. This time of year, 80% of the days are sunny.
April is also one of the driest months, with no more than 70mm of precipitation in total and only 10 days with rainfall, which, in fact, is the lowest number of rainfall days of any month. In terms of total precipitation, February and March are comparably dry; January is the only month that is drier. The chance of experiencing any type of rainfall in April is no higher than 20% on any given day. There are two main rainfall typesight rain and moderate rain, respectively occurring on 66% and 28% of the days with rainfall. Thunderstorms might occasionally occur as well, but are exceptional, recorded on no more than 5% of the rainy days.
The average day temperature is 26°C, the same as in March and Novemberhe following six months are slightly warmer. This glorious temperature is the average between the afternoon high and nighttime low temperatures, respectively 30°C and 22°C. The sea temperature is wonderfully high as well, averaging 27°C.

Where to Stay
April is the perfect month for a peaceful beach holiday in St. Kitts. People who are after some privacy and comfort should definitely take a look at Mule House. This historic house lies on the quiet and lush grounds of Brighton Plantation, which was one of the very first sugar plantations on the island. Accommodation is available in self-catering apartments, while the surroundings offer everything from beautiful natural scenery to historic sites.
For an authentic St. Kitts experience, stay at Rock Haven Bed & Breakfast, a stylish traditional Caribbean home in Frigate Bay. Offering its guests charming accommodation in a warm, welcoming setting, this colourful B&B lies close to many of St. Kitts' greatest attractions, such as golf courses, water sports centres, the historic capital of Basseterre and natural highlights.
A third recommended place to stay is Ocean Waves Guesthouse, a stunningly located beachfront guesthouse in the historic village of Middle Island. Guests can stay in single or double rooms and use the three fully equipped kitchens and the laundry facilities.
Hit the Beach
Looking for a place to escape (or enjoy) the 30°C afternoon temperatures? Consider heading to North Frigate Bay, located within walking distance from bustling South Frigate Bay, yet feeling like a whole other world. This quiet, somewhat off-the-beaten-track beach is usually rather empty, even though it is home to the huge Marriott hotel and a number of condo complexes. If you're looking to spend the afternoon in peace and quiet, this is a good option. The sea is calm due to the reef just of the beach.
Eating and Drinking Out
If you are in the mood for some Chinese food, make your way to King's Palace in Basseterre. Serving authentic Chinese cuisine and famous for its excellent service, this suggested restaurant lies in the heart of Port Zante and offers beautiful views. Its menu is rather extensive.
One of the greatest restaurants in Basseterre is Ballahoo, a hugely popular dining venue and meeting spot. It has an amazingly varied menu, including everything from delicious, fresh seafood to succulent steaks, vegetarian dishes and a wide variety of snacks.
One of the numerous venues at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort is Café Calypso, situated at the entrance of Calypso Restaurant. This welcoming and gorgeously decorated café is a wonderful place to go for an afternoon snackhey serve coffees, sandwiches, pastries.
Things to Do
With only 10 days with precipitation and a rainfall total of no more than 70mm, April is one of the driest months in St. Kitts. Although this might be a relatively quiet time of the year, there is one place on the island that is always bustlinga href="http://www.stkittstourism.kn/explore-st-kitts-activities-the-strip.php">the Strip in South Frigate Bay. The Strip is undoubtedly the island's hot spot, an area chock-full with venues for eating, drinking, dancing, partying and people watching. There are beach bars, exclusive nightclubs, wonderful local restaurants and, of course, a stunning sand beach.
If you're after some more sophistication and culture after spending a few days and nights at the Strip, consider visiting Romney Manor. Once owned by Sam Jefferson II, the great-great-great-grandfather of none other than Thomas Jefferson, this historic house got its present name after it was purchased by the Earl of Romney in the early 1600s. This house is so old it has been around as long as the modern Caribbean has, from the earliest days of colonization to these modern times of tourism. Visitors can tour the historic manor and its beautiful gardens. This is also the home of Caribelle Batik, an authentic Caribbean clothing product.
