Along with September, June is probably one of best months of the year to visit St Julians. The weather is beautifully hot and very dry. But the peak summer crowds have yet not arrived and the sweltering heat of the summer has not yet reached the shores.

The countryside can be more luscious than in the months that are to follow. And there may still be a freshness in the air that just isn't available when the peak summer period arrives.

Average temperatures in St Julians in June are usually around 23°C. However peak day time temperatures tend to reach highs of around 28°C on an almost daily basis. There is some respite from the heat when you are directly near the coast. However, even on the beach, it is wise to stay out of the midday sun.

With the increase in day time temperatures also comes an increase in average lows for the season which means even the dead of night is still very warm in St Julians.  During June, the thermometer will never usually fall below 18°C which means the entire town will come to life at night.

Rain is never usually an issue in St Julians during the summer months. As with July and August, only 10mm of rain is expected to fall during the month. But in most years there will be very little, if any, rain at all.

This is a time for long, hot, bright days and up to 7 hours of daily sunshine on every one of them.

And though sea temperatures will fall from their peak in the months from March to May, a water temperature of 28°C still makes it beautifully warm in the sea. Combined with the truly enticing day time temperature, it is easy to see why everyone wants to come to St Julians in June.

Things to Do

As the weather heats up, head down to Mediterraneo Marine Park for a great way to cool off. The Marine Park may be small but it still offers the opportunity to see a range of marine animals, from dolphins and seals to sea lions and reptiles, basking in the heat of the June sun. The park also offers you the opportunity to swim with dolphins right on site. And it's nowhere near as expensive as some of the larger parks around the world. Enjoy the regular feeding schedule that may even let you get involved. You can also have your photo taken with some of the animals at the park to ensure you have the perfect memento to take back home.

At the Splash & Fun Water Park, you are the main attraction, with water slides and facilities to get you wet and wild. Beware, the water used in the park is sea water, so you will want to keep your mouth closed at the bottom of the rides. But with adrenalin fuelled courses down the Orange Sidewinder, you may not be able to help but scream. There are a range of facilities for all ages and all preferences, with everyone taking a dip in the wave pool by the end of the day. It's the perfect way to enjoy the sun and make sure everyone remembers their trip to St Julians.

Hit the Beach

The beach directly on the seashore at St Julians may not be that big, but it is still one of the most popular places for locals and visitors to go. The clean sand and wealth of onsite facilities ensure this beach gets very busy during the peak summer period. But in June it is still possible to find yourself a good spot. Traditionally, the youngsters will head to the centre of the beach, while the far end is where the more mature visitors like to go. That way everyone can have fun down by the sea, and have a great time people watching too.

Restaurants and Nightlife

For a night of fun, head down to the Portomaso Casino. Casinos are a popular past time in Malta, and the Portomaso is always filled with a combination of local residents and visitors alike. The luxurious internal décor makes sure this place is always popular from 10am in the morning when it opens, to 5am the next day when it finally shuts its doors. Apart from the wealth of different gaming options available, the Portomaso Casino also offers a variety of eating opportunities and a wealth of different bars. It's a great way to see if your luck is in.

The large TV screens regularly show all the best sporting action. And with live music available every Saturday, it's a truly unique place to go.

When the heat of the June sun sets in, the only place to feel the chill in St Julians has to be at the Ice Bar. Located in the basement of the ever popular Nordic Bar, this fabulous bar is set in a minus 15°C climate to keep the drinks nice and cool and you feeling very fresh! The tables, chairs and even the glasses you drink out of are all made of ice. Thankfully, the friendly staff will give you a coat to keep the chill away. But when it gets too much, simply head back upstairs for another night of fun.
