The end of the year brings cold temperatures to Sotogrande, with an average daily temperature of 13°C (about 56°F). That's almost 3 degrees colder than the average daily temperature for November. While chilly, if you're dressed properly, you can still spend time outside seeing the beautiful landscapes of this part of the Andalucia region. The highs get up to 16°C (about 61°F), more like a spring day in the UK than a winter day.
This part of southern Spain experiences lows that drop down to 10°C (about 50°F). Be prepared with a heavier coat or jacket, and maybe even gloves, warm hat, and scarf.
Your suitcase should also have long-sleeved shirts, trousers, and sweaters to layer under your coat. Fortunately, the resort has lots of indoor activities to enjoy when the weather's cold and rainy. This part of southern Europe normally has moderate temperatures without high and low extremes. At one point, however, the high temperature here reached up to a very warm 25°C (around 77°F). The lowest recorded temperature dropped down to just above freezing at 1°C (about 33°F).

Things to Do
The Gibraltar Botanical Gardens is a must do for visitors of all ages during a cool December day. From the gorgeous gardens to the outdoor theatre to the wildlife park, you're sure to find something to interest you during your visit. Wander the stone paths that wind through water features and around the numerous types of trees, bushes, and flowers. If you want to learn more, guided tours are available throughout the year.
The Alameda Wildlife Conservation Park is a great place to get up close and personal with various types of animals. During your visit, you'll see otters, bats, warthogs, tamarins, prairie dogs, rabbits, lories, parrots, parakeets, snapping turtles, water dragons, and snakes. The park is open all year round and is close to the Rock of Gibraltar and part of the Gibraltar Botanical Gardens.
If you're into exploring and don't suffer from claustrophobia, the Great Siege Tunnels of Gibraltar are a fun activity. One of the largest defensive systems built for a war, the tunnels wind through the Rock of Gibraltar and were used in the Great Siege of 1783 between French and Spanish troops. Most of the tunnels were manmade, so its' amazing to see the work that went into creating them.
Eating and Drinking Out
Pedro's Cantina Tex-Mex is a fun and lively joint serving up specialties from Mexico and the southwestern United States. On the menu, you'll find traditional Mexican and Tex-Mex favourites like burritos, nachos, fajitas, and enchiladas. This restaurant is family-friendly and offers large portions and affordable prices. On the weekends, you'll be treated to live music and dancing.
An unassuming beach bar in Sotogrande, Chiringuito Altamar is the perfect spot for a mid-day beach break. The tables sit right on the beach so you can enjoy a snack, light meal, or drinks as you enjoy the sea views. You can also dine in the light and airy indoor dining room. Diners love the paellas, which are so big you can share with several people, as well as the cold cocktails.
Located near the Guadiaro River and Estuary in Sotogrande, Bodeguita El Puerto is a cute café ideal for a light lunch or quick snack. The friendly staff adds to the quaint ambience of the restaurant.
