What's the Weather Like in Sorrento in October

October in SorrentoItaly, sees cooler temperatures than preceding months but the weather is still rather mild.

Temperature

The average daily temperature is 17°C, significantly below the 24°C maximum that is recorded in the peak summer months of July and August, but still quite comfortable by all accounts. Winter will be much cooler, with average temperatures around 8 or 9°C in DecemberJanuary and February.

At night, the mercury drops to an average low of 11°C, so a jacket will probably be necessary if you want to go out for an evening walk. During the day, however, it still climbs to a nice 22°C on average. Both the average low and high temperatures decrease in the course of the month, each by about 4 degrees.

Sea Temperature

The average sea temperature is exactly as high as the average afternoon temperature in Octoberhe Mediterranean Sea is 22°C warm. So if the weather is good, you can still head to the beach and even try some watersports if you are feeling brave! There are loads of watersports on offer, such as waterskiing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, surfing or scuba diving.

Daylight Hours

The length of the days keeps on decreasing in October. With 11.45 hours of daylight, October 1 is the longest day of the month. October 31 is the shortest day with 10.27 daylight hours left. This means that every day in October is 2.5 minutes shorter than the day before.

Clouds

October, the first real autumn month, sees a steady increase in cloud cover. In the course of the month, cloud cover increases from 36% in the beginning of the month to 43% at the end. Clouds move from the category "mostly clear" into the category "partly cloudy".

Sunshine Hours

There's still plenty of sunshine, though, and the sky is overcast only 13% of the time this month. There are 9 hours of sunshine per day in October, which is quite a lot when taking into account that a day has between 10.27 and 11.45 hours of daylight.

Milder temperatures, still sunny skies and much less people than in the high season make October a perfect month for outdoor activities.

Rainfall

You should expect some rain showers, though. October is the second wettest month of the year with a total amount of rainfall of 129mm. There are also 12 days with rainfall this month. This, however, also means that there are still 19 days without any precipitation. The chance that rainfall occurs increases throughout the month, from 35% in the beginning to 43% at the end.

The two most common types of rainfall are thunderstorms and moderate rain, respectively occurring on 46% and 34% of the days with rainfall. Light rain and drizzle may happen as well, but aren't as likely.
